I tried that with my Pro III and it didn't work. Preliminary conclusion is that WSJT-X sends a USB CI-V command with each transmission which cancels out the digital mode set with the long USB button press.

I am not sure on a IC756 but on my IC756ProII and III holding the USB button down in USB mode switches me to USB-D and the mic is muted.

Check your manual, if it has the same PA as the American version, it should only be 100 watts. Maybe someone "turned it up".

That's one of those, "Why didn't Icom use non-volatile ROM (RAM?) when they
designed the radio?" things.

For the most part, Icom didn't seem to go out of their way to make things break
and become obsolete in a planned manner, but they had to realize that this would
(sort-of) ruin a radio, or cause a lot of headaches in re-flashing the ROM
(RAM?).

Hello

I'm runnung WSJT-Z with my IC-756 and the modem from XGGCOMMS (Digimode-4).

Unfortunately the microphone is NOT muted when using Digital.

Does anyone have a solution?

Finally (for now), here is my IC-551 SSB/AM/CW/FM 6M transceiver that I am offering for sale. It is operational, but as with the others, has some scratchy pots, etc. It has been outfitted with the optional EX-106 FM Unit and the EX-107 Vox Unit installed. It does not have the EX-108 PBT unit. It has a sensitive receiver and it was my introduction to SSB DXing on 6M. FWIW I like to keep my gear looking "factory" so I replaced the ICOM memory board in my 751A with the PIEXX board - works great and eliminated the battery issue entirely.

I do not have any connection with PIEXX - just a satisfied end user of the product.

Up next is a nicely kept IC-211 2M SSB/CW/FM transceiver. This was my introduction to the world of 2M SSB. It's in good shape for its age, given the usual caveats about scratchy pots. It powers up, but it needs repair before it can be used because the synthesizer is unlocked. It worked fine before that started happening. It has the modification that makes the squelch work on SSB as well as FM. It comes with the original manual, accessories (including hand mic), and the box as seen in the attached photo. Please make offer if interested. It would be great if someone would restore this and put it into operation, or put it on display in a ham radio museum. It worked quite well for me. I have a nice IC-735 transceiver for sale that I'm no longer using. This was once my dream rig. It's in decent shape for its age, with a few scratchy pots and some operational issues above 20 MHz; probably VCO related. It might need to have the plastic trimmers replaced. It has the accessory 250 Hz CW filter installed. It also comes with the supplied accessories including the hand mic (never used), the original manual, and the full ICOM service manual (not a copy), It it in the original box. I am sure it is fixable, and there are people who work on these if you don't want to. I don't need it, so I thought I would offer it for sale. The package originally sold for around $1,000 in November, 1986. If interested, please make offer. See attached picture.

I needed to replace a memory battery in a recently purchased IC-R100 compact wideband receiver, a larger CR3032 battery. The factory original is virtually inaccessible, hard wired with solder pins and strong double backed adhesive tape affixed just behind the display. I thought of soldering a replacement in parallel and locating the new battery somewhere more accessible but could not locate a battery holder that size so I adhered the new battery to the inside of the cover with electrical tape, but the solder pins on the new battery would touch the chassis and discharge the battery. I put the radio and project aside as a futile effort. The R100 model is seen frequently on eBay; now I know why.
