I have an old photograph of George PETERSEN which was taken at the Long V. Holmes Studio in Clear Lake, IA sometime in the 1890's. George appears to be in his 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding George and his family: George Peter “Gus” PETERSEN was b. 10 Nov 1870 in Fyn or Tjone, Denmark to parents Peter Olsen or Olson PETERSEN (1848-1913) and Inga or Inger Marie JORGENSEN or KNUTSON (1848-1927). George was one of 8 children born to this couple including George Peter “Gus”; Kristina “Tena” or “Tina”; Martha Marie “Minnie”; Emma E.; Andrew Rasmussen or Rasmus; Mary; Peter Olsen; and Fred “Freddie” William PETERSEN, all born between 1870 and 1888. It appears that his father may have married a second time and had two additional children, Carrie PETERSEN (b. 1892) and Charlie PETERSEN (b. 1896). George married Mary or Marie Clausina or Clansine or Clussine or Claussine PAULSON or PAULSEN (1873-1961) on 8 Jun 1895 in Clear Lake or Fertile, IA and they had 7 children including Frederic “Fred” Arthur; Verne or Vern Henry; Roy Peter; Arthur George; Maren or Marie Karen; Peter Olsen; and Ruth Evangeline PETERSEN, all born between 1896 and 1914. George died 25 Apr 1941 in Clear Lake, IA and is buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery in that city.
