PUFFER - DOUBEK - PINTER Family Photograph
2
I've got an old studio photograph identified as Celia PUFFER which was taken at the C. Aminnoff Blomquist Studio in Cresco, IA in the early 1900's. Celia pictured in the photograph appears to be about 12 years old at the time the photograph was taken, maybe at her confirmation. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Celia and her family: Cecelia “Celia” or “Cellia” Louisa Mary PUFFER was b. 24 Feb 1907 in Fort Atkinson, IA to parents Mathias Joseph PUFFER (1881-1968) and Mary Ann DOUBEK (1877-1951) who were married 8 Nov 1904 in Fort Atkinson, IA. Celia was one of 6 children born to this couple including Vaclav M.; Celia; Gothlib Mathias; Bernard Mathias; Marie A.; and Leo Joseph PUFFER, all born between 1905 and 1917. Celia married Frank E. PINTER (1901-1982) on 17 Nov 1925 in Fort Atkinson, IA and they had a son, Donald Francis PINTER Sr. (1934-2009). Celia died 5 Jan 1995 in Fort Atkinson, IA and is buried in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Little Turkey, IA. I’d like to get this treasure to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or you know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley

LYONS - MAHAFFY or MAHAFFEY or MAHAFFE Family Photograph
I have in my possession an old photograph of Mr. H. B. B. LYONS of Yale, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Mr. LYONS in his 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Henry Benjamin Butler LYONS and based on limited research was able to gather the following information regarding Henry and his family: Henry Benjamin Butler LYONS was b. 25 Nov 1864 in Ossian, IA to parents James LYONS (1829-1899) and Anne “Annie” MAHAFFY or MAHAFFEY or MAHAFFE (1826-1895) who were married 31 May 1862 in Fayette Co., IA. Henry was one of four children born to this couple including Thomas Jefferson N.; Henry Benjamin Butler; Baby Boy; and John Grant Mahaffe or Mahaffey LYONS, all born between 1863 and 1869. Henry married Anna M. WIEDMAN (1866-1911) on 21 Aug 1898 in Panora, IA and they had two children including Charles Victor LYONS (1901-1984) and Grace Gertrude LYONS (b. 1903). Henry died 21 Oct 1951 in Ossian, IA and is buried in the Brethren Cemetery in Panora, IA. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of a family member. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Brekke families in Ridgeway
2
I?m investigating some families immigrating from Norway in 1867 and 1873. Amund and Synneva Brekke (maybe spelled Brecke or Bracke or similar) came to Iowa in 1867. In december 1872 Amund died. They had three small children. In the summer of 1873, Thomas and brother Anders (Andrew), and Martin came from the same home farm in Norway (Brekke). Thomas had a wife Gunhild and Andrew had a wife Endrine and a daughter Karianne. Martin married the widow Synneva in 1874. As I have found out, Andrew worked for a while on the railroad. Some years later he and his brother Thomas with families moved to North Dakota. Martin and Synneva with children moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota. I?m interested in all kind of information about these families in Iowa, in the years approximately 1870-1880. Where did they live, what kind of work, the death of Amund, anything. Thank you very much.

PENNYBECKER Family Photograph
I’ve recovered an old photograph of Lottie PENNYBECKER which was taken at the J. S. Buser Studio in Mt. Vernon, IA sometime in the 1870’s or 1880’s. Lottie appears to be in her 20’s or 30’s at the time it was taken. A note on the back also indicates that she is “A friend of Ray’s Mother”. Based on limited research I know the following about Lottie and her family: Charlotte “Lottie” A. MASTERS was b. 28 Oct 1851 in Ashtabula, OH and married John Roberts PENNYBECKER or PENNEBECKER or PENNYPACKER or PENNY (1839-1914). All three names are used throughout records, so I’m not sure which is correct or if the couple modified the surname over time. Lottie died 16 May 1920 in Cedar Rapids, IA and is buried in the Lisbon Cemetery in Lisbon, IA. The couple adopted a daughter, Lillie ZERBE. Lottie’s obituary lists their last name as PENNY and notes that she married John on 20 Sept 1868 in Tipton, IA. A few years after they married the couple moved to Coon Creek, IA and farmed there for many years before moving to Cedar Rapids, IA in 1914. Her husband died in Cedar Rapids, IA on 10 Nov 1914. She was survived by a sister in Manton, MI and a brother in Dorset, OH. It appears from census records that Charlotte’s parents were both born in England. I’m hoping to locate someone from this family so that this lovely old photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
