HOOK - PASSIG Family Photograph
I have an old studio photograph of Sadie HOOK of Hedrick, IA which was taken at the J. C. Barkhurst Studio in Ames, IA. She is identified as being from the Iowa State College Class of 1896 and appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Sadie and her family: Sarah or Sara “Sadie” Caroline HOOK was b. 22 Feb 1876 in Highland, IA to parents James Grant HOOK (1839-1905) and Virginia “Jenny” or “Jennie” ELLER or ELLIS (1845-1897). Sadie was one of 11 children born to this couple including Mary; John B.; Orin or Oren; Wallace Allen; Sadie; Jesse; Baby Girl; Fredie; James William “Will”; Franklin Leslie; and Maurice or Morris Glen or Glenn HOOK, all born between 1868 and 1889. Sadie married Henry Edgar “Ed” PASSIG (1869-1947) on 7 Sept 1904 in Humboldt, IA and was a teacher and a drama coach in Humboldt, IA and Claremont, CA until she moved to Fort Dodge, IA in 1953. Sadie died 18 Oct 1961 in Fort Dodge, IA and is buried in the Union Cemetery in Humboldt, IA. She was survived by her brother Maurice G. HOOK of Hubbard Lake, IA. RICH Family Photograph 2
I've recovered an old photograph of Frances RICH GLEASON which was taken at the Lovejoy Studio in Owego, NY. The photograph is dated 20 Jun 1889 with Frances likely in her teens or 20's at the time that it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Frances and her family: Frances Augusta RICH was b. 7 or 8 Aug 1872 in Richford, NY to parents Chauncey Leroy RICH (1815-1903) and Jane MORENUS or MORENOS (1851-1900) who were married 6 Jun 1868 in Richford, NY. She was one of four children born to this couple including Frederick Lee; Frances A.; Winifred Whitney; and Lucile F. RICH, all born between 1869 and 1888. Her father was married previously and had three additional children including Chauncey Deming; George Leroy; and Edward Harris RICH, all born between 1839 and 1849. Frances was married twice, first to Joseph Leonard MCINTEE (b. 1869) on 3 Jun 1896 in Richford, NY. Her second marriage was to Lafayette Blanchard GLEASON (1863-1937) on 14 Mar 1908 in Delaware Co., NY. Frances died 28 Jul 1936 in New York, NY and is buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Delhi, NY. At the time of her death her brother Edward H. RICH survived her and was living in Fort Dodge, IA. OSTLUND - ANDERSON Family Photograph
I've recovered an old photograph of Oscar M. OSTLUND Sr. and an unidentified young man which was given to his sister Jennie OSTLUND in Duncombe, IA. The photograph looks to have been taken some time between 1907 and 1920 with Oscar likely in his teens at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Oscar and his family: Oscar Martin OSTLUND was b. 15 or 16 Jun 1892 or 1893 in Duncombe, IA to parents John Jonsson “Jons” OSTLUND (b. 1862) and Gurina Julia ANDERSON (b. 1862) who were married in 1885. Oscar was one of 8 children born to this couple including Minnie Josephine; Newet or Newt “Nutie” Mercelious; Jemice Jennie Gurina; Oscar Martin; Sophia “Sophie”; Ruth Margaret; David Lorentz; and Emmet OSTLUND, all born between 1886 and 1906. Oscar was married twice, first to Glynnie Claire DILLON on 26 Sept 1921 in Fort Dodge, IA and second to Lenore “Nonie” Margaret BOWERS (1892-1974). Oscar and Nonie had two children including Oscar Martin OSTLUND Jr. (1932-2016) and Anderson “Anders” Bowers OSTLUND (1936-1993). Oscar died 24 Oct 1963 in Williamsport, PA and his ashes scattered in Cascade Township, Lycoming Co., PA. Oscar’s sister Jennie Gurina OSTLUND was b. 5 Mar 1890 in Duncombe, IA and married Albert Julius KNUTSON (1889-1977) on 3 May 1911 in Webster Co., IA and they had a son, Myrus Lowell KNUTSON (1914-2005). Jennie died 5 Oct 1971 in San Bernardino, CA. I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. JONSSON - CHALLGREN Family Photograph
I’ve recovered an old photograph which has been identified as Nils JONSSON and his wife Johanna PETERSDOTTER. The photograph was taken at the Immke Studio in Princeton, IL and sent to Mr. Gus CHALLGREN in Harcourt, IA. Gus was married to their daughter Carrie. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the couple and their family: Nils JONSSON or JOHNSON was b. 26 Sept 1854 in Holmby, Inalmihes Lan, Sweden to parents Jons OLSSON and Eljena NILSDOTTER (b. 1820). Nils was one of three children born to this couple including Nils; Ola; and Mans JONSSON, all born between 1854 and 1865. Nils married Johanna PETERSDOTTER (1854-1939) in 1876 in Reslov, Malmohus, Sweden and they had at least three children including, Anton Nilson (b. 1879); Carrie; and John JONSSON or JOHNSON. Their son John changed his last name to HICKEY at some point in time. Nils died 2 Nov 1919 in Dubuque, IA and is buried in the Pine View Cemetery in Delaware, OH. GERHARDT Family Photograph
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rev. Carl GERHARDT which was taken at the I. M. Lane Studio in Dayton, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Carl likely 30's at the time it was taken. A note on the back says "My Friend". Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Carl and his family: Rev. Carl E. or C. GERHARDT was b. 20 Dec 1857 in Langd Hessen Dennastadt or Darmstadt Hessen, Germany to Johann Konrad GERHARDT (1824-1892) and Katherine or Katharina Elizabeth or Elisabetha KROLL or KROELL or PROELL (1829-1916). Carl was one of 11 children born to this couple including, Elizabeth; William; Rev. Otto F.; Emma; William; Carl E.; Charles; William; Lodwig; Louis Arthur; Emil; and Emmel GERHARDT, all born between 1843 and 1866. Carl married Alice Ella RAMIGE (1869-1930) on 23 May 1889 in Lake Creek, IA and they had 8 children including, Edward Emil; Sylva Carmen; Bertha Elizabeth; Mabel Alta; Lloyd Frederick; Carl John; Earl J.; and Arthur William GERHARDT, all born between 1891 and 1905. Carl died 3 Nov 1932 in Grant Co. SD and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Big Stone City, SD. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Otter Creek, IA: Carl GERHARDT, age 40 Alice E. GERHARDT, age 30 Arthur W. GERHARDT, age 10 Bertha E. GERHARDT, age 8 Mable A. GERHARDT, age 6 Lloyd T. GERHARDT, age 3 Sylvia E. GERHARDT, age 3 months 1920 census of Big Stone City, SD: Carl C. GERHARDT, age 62 Alice A. GERHARDT, age 50 Arthur W. GERHARDT, age 29 Lloyd F.
