BREWER - SEAWARD - CARMAN Family Photographs
I have two old studio photographs belonging to the BREWER and SEAWARD families. The first is one of Mrs. Z. L. BREWER which was taken at the Cundill Studio in Maquoketa, IA sometime in the 1890's. Mrs. BREWER appears to be in her 20's at the time the photograph was taken. A note on the back also says, "Arno Flat No. 6, corner of 11th and Iowa". I believe that this is a photograph of Juliet Westerfield SEAWARD BREWER. The second photograph is one of a man identified as B. W. SEAWARD of Bellevue, IA which was taken at the same studio. The photograph appears to have been gifted to Juliet SEAWARD and taken some time in the 1880’s with the man in the photograph likely in his 20’s or 30’s at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding these two family members: Juliet Westerfield SEAWARD was born 7 Apr 1868 in Bellevue, IA to parents Benjamin “Ben” Wynkoop SEAWARD (1830-1915) and Maria “Mary” Josephine CARMAN (1839-1891) who were married 16 Apr 1860 in Bellevue, IA. Juliet had four siblings including, a brother Benjamin Wynkoop SEAWARD (1861-1924) who is pictured in the second photograph; Josephine “Josie” SEAWARD (1865-1918); Kittie Mae or May SEAWARD (1871-1873); and Hattie Bell or Belle SEAWARD (1873-1933). Juliet married Zebulon Locke BREWER (1864-1912) on 25 Jan 1893 in Bellevue, IA and she died 28 May 1909 in Bellevue, IA and she is buried in the First Presbyterian Cemetery in Bellevue, IA. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.
