HOOK - PASSIG Family Photograph
I have an old studio photograph of Sadie HOOK of Hedrick, IA which was taken at the J. C. Barkhurst Studio in Ames, IA. She is identified as being from the Iowa State College Class of 1896 and appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Sadie and her family: Sarah or Sara “Sadie” Caroline HOOK was b. 22 Feb 1876 in Highland, IA to parents James Grant HOOK (1839-1905) and Virginia “Jenny” or “Jennie” ELLER or ELLIS (1845-1897). Sadie was one of 11 children born to this couple including Mary; John B.; Orin or Oren; Wallace Allen; Sadie; Jesse; Baby Girl; Fredie; James William “Will”; Franklin Leslie; and Maurice or Morris Glen or Glenn HOOK, all born between 1868 and 1889. Sadie married Henry Edgar “Ed” PASSIG (1869-1947) on 7 Sept 1904 in Humboldt, IA and was a teacher and a drama coach in Humboldt, IA and Claremont, CA until she moved to Fort Dodge, IA in 1953. Sadie died 18 Oct 1961 in Fort Dodge, IA and is buried in the Union Cemetery in Humboldt, IA. She was survived by her brother Maurice G. HOOK of Hubbard Lake, IA. HENRY Family Photograph
I’ve recovered an old photograph of Florence Marion HENRY taken at the Martin Studio in Boone, IA when she was 15 months old. The name “Lena” also appears on the back of the photograph as if that might be the person to whom the photograph was gifted. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Florence and her family: Florence Marion HENRY was b. 28 Mar 1895 in Perry, IA to parents Marion Almond HENRY (b. 1 Dec 1860) and Mona “Monnie” Alice CLARK (b. 1865). Her Father was born in Fleming, OH and 35 years old when she was born. Marion’s occupation at the time she was born was identified as Depot Agent. Her Mother Mona was 30 years old at the time of Florence’s birth and noted her place of birth as Oregon. Florence was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Lina; Merrill Eugene; Florence; Doris; and Mary HENRY, all born between 1885 and 1907. Florence’s Father died 28 Feb 1944 in Los Angeles Co., CA. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Weaver Township, Humboldt Co., IA: Marion HENRY, age 39, born Dec 1860, married 15 years, born OH, parents born OH, a Telegraph Agent Mona HENRY, wife, age 34, born Jul 1865, married 15 years, 4 children/4 living, born OR, parents born OH Lina HENRY, dau, age 18, born Oct 1885, born IA, at School Merrill HENRY, son, age 7, born Apr 1893, born OK, at School Florence HENRY, dau, age 6, born Mar 1884, born IA, at School Larisa HENRY, dau, age 10 months, born Jul 1899, born IA 1910 census of Canon, CO: Marian A. HENRY, age 49, married 27 years, born OH, parents born OH, a Railroad Ticket Agent Mona A. HENRY, wife, age 44, married 27 years, 5 children/5 living, born OR, parents born OH Maro HENRY, son, age 17, born OK Florence HENRY, dau, age 16, born IA Dorris HENRY, dau, age 10, born IA Mary HENRY, dau, age 3, born IA I am hoping to locate someone from this HENRY Family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. HUBBARD Family Photograph
I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of Edna L. B. HUBBARD which was taken at the Parker Studio in Humboldt, IA taken sometime in the 1880’s. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Edna and her family: Edna L. B. HUBBARD was b. 1885 in Plymouth Co., IA to parents Henry C. HUBBARD and Carrie D. HUBBARD. Shortly after her birth in 1885 the family was living in Springvale, IA, Henry C. was 22 years old and Carrie was 24 years old. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Pauline ROPTE which was taken at the J. C. Patterson Studio in Humboldt, IA The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Pauline appearing to be in her teens at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Pauline and her family: Pauline “Lena” L. ROPTE was b. 19 Jul 1877 in Iowa to parents Karl or Carl or Charles Friedrich ROPTE (1839-1901) and Mina or Minna or Minnie Johanne Louise R. HIRSCHFELD or HIRSHFELD or HIRSCHFIELT (1843-1931) who were married 22 Apr 1867 in Germany. Lena was one of 9 children born to this couple including, Ernst; Frederick Henry or Friedrich Heinrich; Charles “Carl” Frederick Jr.; Robert John; Baby Girl; Lena L.; Ida Marie Lisetta; Bertha J. or W.; and Marie Louise ROPTE, all born between 1868 and 1885. Lena died 19 Dec 1957 and is buried in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Humboldt, IA I am hoping to locate someone from her family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of her family.
