I have an old studio photograph identified as Mr. & Mrs. R. B. WILSON which was taken at the Hover Studio in Falls City, NE sometime in the 1890's. The couple appears to be in their teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Robert B. WILSON and his wife Lyle HOVER WILSON who were married in Falls City, NE in 1893. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this couple: Robert Bodine WILSON was b. 1864 of 1865 in Missouri to parents James WILSON (b. 1836) and Mariah “Maria” BODINE (b. 1838). Robert was one of 9 children born to this couple including Susan; Carrie B.; Robert B.; Vinnie; Harry Ellis; Mary; Addie; Kate; and Gorel WILSON, all born between 1860 and 1879. Robert died 16 Nov 1937 in Los Angeles, CA and is buried in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, IA. Lyle K. HOVER was b. 3 May 1872 in Henry County, IA to parents William Maxin or Maxim “Mack” HOVER (1847-1914) and Eliza Adaline “Addie” TAYLOR (1845-1932). She was one of four children born to this couple including Blanche; Lyle; Stella Corinne; and Leroy W. HOVER, all born between 1870 and 1880. She was married to Robert B. WILSON in 1893 in Nebraska and by 1900 they were living in Omaha, NE and then in 1910 they were in St. Paul, MN and in 1930 they were living in Minneapolis, MN. Lyle died 16 May 1966 in Los Angeles, CA and is buried in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, IA. AYERS - WAUGH Family Photograph
I've recovered an old photograph of Wyman AYERS which was taken at the Hill & Everett Studio in Burlington, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken about 1900 with Wyman appearing to be in his 30's or 40's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Wyman and his family: Wyman Lyndon or Linden or Lynden AYERS was b. 11 Mar 1858 in Osceola, WI to parents Warren Linden AYERS (1834-1863) and Elizabeth “Tillie” Susan WAUGH (1837-1916) who were married 21 May 1855 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Three children were born to this couple including Catherine; Wyman Linden; and Clara AYERS, all born between 1856 and 1862. After his father died his mother remarried Mr. ALBURN and they had 3 children including, Edwin; Monta or Montie C.; and Frederick “Fred” ALBURN born between 1865 and 1874. Wyman married Eva MAY (1861-1939) on 24 Jul 1878 in Louisa Co., IA and they had two children including Charles Warren AYERS (1879-1896) and Glenn or Glen Wyman AYERS (1890-1962). Wyman died 28 Dec 1913 in Columbus Junction or Columbus City, IA and is buried in the Columbus City Cemetery in Columbus City, IA. SHERWOOD - JONES Family Marriage Certificate
I've recovered the original marriage license for Cecil Charles SHERWOOD and Mabel Lefferts HULSE who were married on the 7th of August 1919 at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in the City of New York, NY. The ceremony was witnessed by Cornelia L. HULSE, Joseph LEFFERTS, and Lillian G. WORDMAN and was officiated by E. Briggs NASH. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the couple: Cecil Charles SHERWOOD was b. 28 or 21 Nov 1881 in Des Moines, IA to parents Harley Leroy SHERWOOD (b. 1855) and Carrie or Terry Alice JONES (1858-1898) who were married 12 Mar 1878 in Rome, IA. Cecil was one of two children born to this couple including a brother Claudius H. SHERWOOD (b. 1880). The family was living in Chanute, KS in 1885. After his mother died his father remarried and another child was born, Lucy Mae SHERWOOD (1905-1963). Cecil was living in Forest Hills, NY when he registered for the draft in 1942 and was unemployed. Cecil died in 5 Aug 1965 in Aqueduct, NY. Mabel Lefferts HULSE was b. abt 1886 in New York, NY to parents Charles HULSE and Cornelia LEFFERTS. She was the only child born to this couple. If doesn’t appear that Cecil and Mabel had any children. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the document can be returned to their care. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Elmer MCCLURE of Council Bluffs, IA which was taken at the Schmidt Studio in Council Bluffs in 1881. Elmer appears to be in his teens at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Elmer and his family: Elmer W. MCCLURE was b. 1861 or 1862 in Mount Pleasant, IA to parents Hugh MCCLURE (b. 1826) and Sarah Ann KARR (1830-1930) who were married in 1852 in Ohio. Elmer was one of four children born to this couple including, Fanny Mary; Charles S.; Elmer W.; and Sarah Belle “Sallie” MCCLURE all born between 1856 and 1865. Elmer married Grace MCGRANAHAN (1869-1949) on 30 Mar 1894 in Muskogee Co., OK and they had a son, Joseph Hugh MCCLURE (1902-1987). Elmer died 4 Oct 1928 in Mount Pleasant, IA. His son Joseph married Myrte May MARKHAM (1905-2001) and they had two children together, Joseph Hugh MCCLURE (1936-2009) and Philip B. MCCLURE (b. 1939) and Myrte May had two children by a previous marriage. His son Joseph Hugh Jr. died in Trinity, TX.
