RIEBKAS or RIEBKES Family Photograph
I have an old studio photograph of Riebke RIEBKAS which was taken at the A. D. Frantz Studio in Ackley, IA in the 1890's. Riebke is likely less than one year old at the time the photograph was taken. A note on the back of the photograph says, "died in 1918 at Camp Dodge with flu". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Riebke and his family: Riebke M. RIEBKES was b. 6 Sept 1896 in German Township, Grundy Co., IA to parents Martin M. RIEBKES (1873-1951) and Antje or Anna KANNEGIETER or KANNIGSITER (1876-1950). Riebke was one of 8 children born to this couple including Riebke M.; Metje or Mettje or Mattie or Matta; John M.; Louis “Louie” M.; Albertiro or Alburtus “Bert” M.; Janna or Jennie; Ida; and Henry M. RIEBKES, all born between 1896 and 1910. Riebke died 16 Oct 1918 in Camp Dodge, IA and is buried in the East Friesland Cemetery in Grundy Co., IA. I’d like to get this treasure to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
