I have an old postcard photograph of Marilyn Lee JENSEN which was taken at the Hart Studio in Ames, IA. Marilyn is identified as 5 months old at the time it was taken. The postcard is dated to sometime between 1924 and 1949. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Marilyn and her family: Marilyn Lee JENSEN was b. 9 Sept 1933 in Jewell, IA the daughter of Hans Juhl JENSEN (1909-1997) and Cora or Cara Marie HELVIG (1905-2008). Marilyn had only one sibling, a sister. Marilyn married Duane Rexford REYNOLDS (1931-1992) on 14 June 1953 in Jewell, IA. Marilyn died 7 Jan 2021 in Atlantic, IA and she is buried in the Atlantic Cemetery in that city. Marilyn’s obituary lists her surviving children including Randy REYNOLDS of Council Bluffs, IA; Diana ROZMIAREK of LaVista, NE; and Jeffery “Jeff” REYNOLDS Waterloo, NE; and her sister Cathy JENSEN of Ankeny, IA. I have an old studio photograph of George W. WHITE which was taken at the Morris Studio in Lawrence, KS sometime in the early 1900's. George is identified as married to Mary BARNEY. Based on limited research and thanks to area genealogists I was able to gather the following information regarding George and his family: George Washington WHITE was b. 9 May 1879 in Sibley, IA to parents Samuel French WHITE (1835-1918) and Margaret Ann MAHAN or MAHON (1845-1916) who were married 3 Oct 1863 in Zanesville, OH. George was one of 8 children born to this family including Alva Asberry or Asbury; Ida; Charles Winthrode or Winrod or Wintrode or Winthrobe; Minerva; William Whip; Berthis or Bertis “Bertie” Hays or Hayes; Anna May and George Washington WHITE, all born between 1865 and 1882. George married Mary Gertrude BARNEY (1883-1982) on 29 Dec 1909 in Boise, ID and the couple had 6 children including Paul William; Ruth Virginia; Mary Gertrude; Donald Edward; Dorothy Helen; and Dean Victor WHITE, all born between 1911 and 1923. George died 16 Dec 1952 in Shelby, IN and is buried in the Lowell Memorial Cemetery in Lowell, IN. His wife Mary was b. 29 Sept 1883 in Anita or Audubon, IA to parents Andrew Jackson BARNEY (1833-1926) and Minerva Augusta DIETRICH (1848-1944). Mary was one of 8 children born to these parents including Jennie Maud; Edward Dietrich; Francis; James O.; Emma M.; Mary Gertrude; Martin Van Buren; and Flavia Pearl BARNEY, all born between 1870 and 1890. Mary died 27 Mar 1982 in California and is buried with George in the Lowell Memorial Cemetery in Lowell, IN. His son Dean WHITE was b. 25 May 1923 in Norfolk, NE and by 1946 joined his father in the billboard business, Whiteco Advertising Company and took over the business in 1952. He married Barbara and they had four children including Bruce, Chris, Craig, and Cindy WHITE. Dean died 14 Sept 2016 in Crown Point, IN. His obituary lists his surviving family including children Cynthia MERIDA of Mexico; Bruce WHITE of Chicago, IL; Christopher WHITE of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Craig WHITE of Park City, UT; and his sister Mary BIRD of Los Angeles, CA. I have an old studio photograph of Ira WELCH which was take at the Smith Studio in Oskaloosa, IA sometime in the 1890's. Ira appears to be in his 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Ira and his family: Ira Lyons WELCH was b. 24 or 25 Jun 1869 in Eddyville, IA to parents Jason Ritchie WELCH (1840-1925) and Rebecca Ann CALDWELL (1844-1911) who were married 6 May 1862 in Harrison, OH. Ira had three siblings including Anna Jenette or Jeanette or Jeanetta “Nettie” WELCH MOORE (1863-1937); J. WELCH (b. 1869); and Minnie Dell WELCH TREAT (1872-1967). Ira married Eva Frances JONES (1891-1942) on 6 Jun 1901 in Cass Co., IA and they had 5 children including Baby Girl; Howard Jason; James Richard; Betty Lorene; and Armelda Caroline WELCH, all born between 1908 and 1920. Ira died 23 Jun 1944 or 25 Jul 1944 in Atlantic, IA and is buried in the Atlantic Cemetery in that city. I have in my possession a photograph identified as Mrs. Jackson SCOTT which was taken at the J. W. Beltz Studio in Atlantic, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880’s with Mrs. SCOTT likely in her 50’s or 50’s at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mrs. SCOTT and her family: Mary Little BOVELL was b. 3 Dec 1830 in Edgar Co., IL to parents James Harvey BOVELL (1808-1873 or 1893) and Jane Mariah BROOKS (1800-1843) who were married 24 Feb 1830 in Paris, IL. Mary was one of 8 children born to this couple including Mary Little; Elizabeth C.; Margaret Jane; Sarah A.; John B.; Alfred; and Archibald “Arch” Preston; and Baby Boy BOVELL, all born between 1830 and 1843. Mary married Abraham or Abram Jackson SCOTT (1819-1901) on 8 or 18 Mar 1849 in Mahaska Co., IA and together they had 8 children including Merah J.; Nancy “Nannie” Ann; Isabel or Isabelle “Belle”; John B.; Mary E.; Harvey J.; Sarah; and Rachel or Rachael Bovell SCOTT, all born between 1850 and 1868. Mary died 12 Oct 1896 in Atlantic, IA and is buried in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, IA. I’ve recovered an old photograph of James C. MENEFEE which was taken at the Fink Bros. Studio in Montezuma, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880’s or 1890’s with James just an infant at the time the photograph was taken. It is inscribed “To Uncle Dick” on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding James and his family: James Charles MENEFEE was b. 23 Jan 1895 in Atlantic, IA to parents Lowell F. MENEFEE (1874-1953) and Lillie Mae SHELEY (1874-1959). James had one sibling, a sister Pluma Pauline MENEFEE (1901-1958). James married Bertha Anna RYDLE (1902-1971) on 4 Mar 1924 in Wiota, IA and they had two children including Josephine Mae MENEFEE (1924-1924) and Dorothy Jean MENEFEE (1925-1925). James died 11 Jan 1959 and is buried in the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Walnut, IA. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified only as "Roy, Harry, Charles, and Edith", a beautiful old photograph of four children taken at the Lyon Studio in Woodbine, IA about 1895. The children appear to range in age from about 1-2 years to 7-8 years old. Based on limited research I have determined that this is the TUPPER Family, four children of Benson Samuel TUPPER and Julie Ann PLUM and I’ve gathered the following information regarding the family: Walter LeRoy “Roy” TUPPER was b. 13 May 1882 in Washington, IA to parents Benson Samuel TUPPER (1862-1929) and Anna or Ann Julie or Julia PLUM (1863-1943) who were married 16 Apr 1881 in Harrison Co., IA. The couple had five children including, Walter LeRoy; Earl Benjamin; Harry James; Charles Benson; and Edith Pearl or Plum TUPPER all born between 1882 and 1893. Roy married Bessie M. WARMAN (1884-1929) on 19 Mar 1905 in Logan, IA and they had a daughter, Nellie Lenora TUPPER (1906-1978). Roy died in 1951 in Boyer or Woodbine, IA and is buried in the Woodbine Cemetery in Woodbine, IA. Harry James TUPPER Sr. was b. 22 Jul 1887 in Minden, IA to the same parents and married Ethel Fae WATKINS (1887-1990) on 26 Feb 1908 in Woodbine, IA. The couple had 5 children including, Gwendolyn Cleo; Cloyce Watkins; Nevah or Neva Juanita; Harry James Jr.; and Keith Dwayne TUPPER, all born between 1909 and 1924. Harry died 29 May 1974 in Woodbine or Boyer, IA and is also buried in the Woodbine Cemetery. Charles Benson TUPPER was b. 30 Jan 1890 in Persia, IA to the same parents and married Grace Elizabeth VAN VLACK (1891-1987) in Cumberland, IA on 23 Jun 1915 and they had a daughter, Rachel TUPPER (1916-2008). Charles died Apr 1973 in Des Moines, IA and is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines, IA. Edith Pearl or Plum TUPPER was b. 25 Mar 1893 in Iowa to the same parents and she died in Aug 1972 in Woodbine, IA.
