My great-great-grandfather was James Hall who was born about 1800 in North Carolina. He was in Grant County, Indiana, as of 1831 when her married Rachel Moorman. The 1850 census of Grant County, IN, is the only indication of his birthplace, although his children who were alive in 1880 claim that their father was born in North Carolina. James died about 1855. His children were named in a guardianship record in Grant County. It agrees with the names of his household members on the 1850 census.?
?
I don't know for certain who James's parents were although I strongly suspect that they were William Hall and Mary Hiatt who were married in Guilford County, North Carolina, in 1785. Unfortunately, no probate record appears to exist for the settlement of William's estate. Tax records and land records show that he owned land in Stokes County, NC.?
?
My DNA matches indicate a relationship to descendants of individuals who I believe were William's children but I have no firm evidence.

Hi Janet My Hall line is probably from Virginia (Halifax Co.), then moving to Tennessee,? Weakley Co. Hall is?one of my hardest to find. I believe the oldest? male Hall I claim was named Benjamin Hall who lived in Halifax, Virginia circa Rev.War time. He is my oldest proven Hall male. I hope that may be helpful to you.
