HP8920A, HP 11807A,E Option 001 card
开云体育Hi Andy,! I found one on Ebay. It has the HP Part Number 85700A and is 32Kilobyte capacity. Looks New!. It does work and I was able to write and read to it.? So far, I have not been able to back up any of the inbuilt
programs and routine to it. From what I read in the Operating
Manual, it is for saving custom test routines that the user wants
to use later. I think the configuration and standard test setups are installed from a special format disk that comes with the "Upgrade" that the user has bought from HP.? Each time the instrument was serviced or calibrated, a new Card was burned by HP and delivered with the repaired Unit. There must be thousands of cards out there gathering dust in some "Bottom Drawer". I have attempted to get around this problem by burning a set of PROM Copies from a ? Working unit. Even some of the Proms are getting rare these days. Such is the world we live in .... Let me know if you find any cards, Especially the "Master Cards"
from HP the Factory. I think that even with these cards, they are
instrument specific, and may corrupt the system if you load
programs that are not written for the unit. Something to do with
the serial number?? Regards Bill Macham ??? VK6IC

Bill,

Thanks for the info. I am new to the 8920a. I did find the NA_FM files in the files section on this forum. I'm not sure how to transfer them to an Epson memory card. And, as you suggest, the files may not even work once transferred.?

Don't get confused on that.? The 8920a and the Epson cards can have a different file system.? The Epson cards can come as "Read Only" for programs and updates you buy from HP or as Read/Write cards with a battery that holds the contents for about 6mo to a year.? I don't yet know how to convert files from the native format to DOS to back them up via serial port, and then back to native format.? The text files like the Basic files can be done, but I didn't figure out about the binary files.? Good luck.

Does anyone have a copy of the 83224A IBASIC Developers Tool Kit software? It runs on a PC. It appears to include a utility to transfer files from a PC to the test set memory. As the test set memory is non-volatile this is as good as a card. 83224A came in two versions; one included the basic compiler (Rocky Mountain Basic) but that is not needed to transfer files. |
Thanks, rab
I did purchase the option 001 card from ebay.? It came with a few other cards I have no use for. ( HP 11807A Options 004, 010, 042, 043 and 044) and two other cards, HP 83204 and HP 83236A. If anyone has a use for any of these cards I will let them go at a reasonable ???? price. Hopefully, someone with knowledge of using the NA_FM Tests can help with error I get when running the tests. On several of the TX tests an error message is displayed: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?"Deviation would not set to 1.5kHz" The tests this is displayed on are:?TX Modulation Limiting,?TX Microphone Sensitivity and?TX Audio Distortion.? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Andy AE8J |
When you did the last tests did you have the audio from the HP going in to the transmitter mic input?

Hi Ralph,
?
Yes, I am testing several hand held radios. I made up an adapter to plug into the Kenwood style speaker mic two plug connector. Speaker audio from radio connects to the 8920a Audio in High and mic audio from the radio connects to the 8920a Audio Out.

Hi Andy, ?? I have not used the NA FM tests. My only suggestion would be to go to the Keysight web site, search for 11807A opt 001 and you should be able to download the manual for it. On 1/17/2024 2:43 PM, Andy wrote:

I have an HP produced demonstration video which includes usage of the11807A? NA FM tests. It was likely transcribed from a Betamax format.? It is a 461MB .wmv file and addresses the FM tests at roughly the 44:00min. mark.
Would there be a preferred place to post this file?? Perhaps in the folder containing the 11807A files?? Is this file prohibitively large to post here? Mike |
Mike, Thanks, but no place in this Groups.io is the right place for a file that big. I think we have a member who is hosting that same file but I can't confirm positively because my download speed is too slow.? It is described as HP?Instructional Video. If what you have is different from the above I'll be in contact with you by direct email about what to do next with the big video file. Hank _______________________________________
