(OT?...) Sticky labels for aluminum and other typical materials panels 27
Hi all, I've had limited success (hand) writing, and sometimes printing, labels to stick on DIY project boxes for miscellaneous labeling needs. There was some chatter here on materials and printing means and solutions, but I'm really only looking for some recommendations for DIY projects. What types of sticky labels are better for these specific applications? What stays put and doesn't peel off the minute finger pressure gets lifted, or there's some variation in temperature and/or humidity? Or just the passage of... minutes. I've this far used "office supplies" types, but they'd always peel off in short order, and there must be affordable, easily accessible other options I'm not aware of. Apologies if this is far off topic - hopefully others will find it useful for their own needs. Thank you, Radu.

(OT) Affordable PCB fabrication (-> tariffs/US...)
Hi all, This may of particular interest to US members, but I am wondering how others are handling the effect of tariffs (in particular with China) on your PCB fabrication needs. Though I should say, recommendations on reliable, good fabricators is likely information that everyone could use. I have two raiser cards I designed (for Fluke instrumentation/calibrating equipment), and maybe I should just wait for all this to blow over (assuming it settles somewhere different than where we are), but I'd rather plan for tough times. I used to use JLCPCB, but with the additional costs triggered by the tariffs, I may be looking at about two or three times the cost (rather closer to the latter than the former), and that just makes is unfeasible to offer this product. At what hobbyists are willing to pay for something like this (which, myself being one, I fully understand), I'd be losing money on each one I'd make. Are there some good options others have figured out where tariffs are not quite so onerous? I looked, for instance, at a place in India, which looks decent enough and not crazy expensive - though distinctly more expensive than JLCPCB - but they don't seem to have some of the capabilities I want, such as beveled card edge and so on. Their features seem to be about half as many as a place like JLCPCB offers. There are some places in the US - and OSH Park need not apply, as these are large and really need volume discounts - but they seem to be very low tech in terms of getting online quotes (=0 capabilities for such at what likely is the most affordable ones) and so it's very hard and time intensive to investigate. But if any of you knows a good, affordable and reliable place, I'd love to hear about it. From what I gather, at this point, offshoring this kind of thing is by far the most affordable and ultimately lucrative option. particularly at hobbyist level. With some places that can price me upon uploading my gerbers, I'm a bit antsy about giving them away. I heard stories where once uploaded, you essentially are giving away your IP and the design may pop up in mass production somewhere. Thank you, Radu.

(OT) What kind of paint is used for these profi products 9
Group, I was always interested in what kind or type of paint the professional products are using - no chipping, slick, solid and just great. Very long lasting! What is the type of this paint, how is it transferred to the metal housing (is it spray or dipping or plain brush?) Any insight will be more than welcome! :) As an example, this is what I'm talking about (please disregard the Narda part numbers):

HP 8566B repair 5
Hello everyone. Suddenly my spectrum analyzer (HP 8566B) has the following problems: the low band signal is about 40 dB lower than it should be. The high band has stopped working: the various bands no longer appear on the screen, but a single band similar to the low band and the signal is completely absent! I strongly suspect that the YTX oscillator is dead or almost dead! Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks. Images: HP8566B and output at first LO connector. HP 8510C with 8340A? 8
Hello Folks, sorry to annoy you with a problem - in an act of stupidity, I bought like half of a 8510C VNA. In particular, I got the display and the test set, which means I miss the compute unit and the waveform generator. A friend of mine would now have a 2602 serial number of the 8340A unit which he would want to offload onto me for a nice price. For me, the key question is whether this - it is quite an old version of the generator - will be compatible with the 8510C? I looked around the internet a bit, and so far did not find any binding answer... Tam -- With best regards Tam HANNA Enjoy electronics? Converting VNA HP8510C to 8530A for Antenna Measurements 25
Dear Colleagues, Does anyone of you own an 85101C display unit with option 011 and would be able to download the contents of the PAL security key 08530-80004 (option for the 8530A microwave receiver). I have an 85101C display unit that I would like to use for antenna measurements, I have the operating system on a LIF floppy disk ready to reload, unfortunately my 85101C unit does not have option 011 (dual identity 8510C/8530A). I would be extremely grateful, I think that the contents of the PAL would be also valuable for other microwave hobbyists. Best regards, Wojciech

Keysight R8486D/Q8486D microwave transition power sensor question 4
This rf power sensor has a waveguide to TEM transition which then drives the more or less standard diode detector/chopper mechanism (I assume, never seen one). Does anybody know if there is a filter between the 50MHz ref connector and the transition? Keysight manual says nothing besides not being repairable. Another question is calibration. It needs a 30dB atten so the sensor cals at -30dBm, how does the display know about that?

HP 11683A Range Calibrator - Anyone ever swapped resistors for a repair? 5
Hey All, I dropped my 11683A Range Calibrator on the bench to test some 435A meters, and I've discovered that it is out of specification. Here is what I measured on the device: The lower level resistances are good, and my overall reference voltage is close to 15.8V (and can be adjusted to the 145mV as the manual specifies for the 1mW range). However, as you can see it fails the greater 1mW ranges, which I think indicates that there is a problem in the upper resistor array and this, again as far as I can tell, makes the voltage measurement stuff a bit dodgy. Does anyone have any recommendations on replacement resistors? The manual says a 0.1% with TC=0 +/- 10, the OEM was Micro-Ohm Corp of CA. Thanks, TonyG

HP83651A HPGL language settings 6
Hi, does anybody happen to know which rear dip switch language setting belongs to which programming language? I could not find this in the manuals, probably simply not seeing it. Right now it is set to 001 which must be analyzer mode as it is running in an 8510C system. Which setting is SCPI language? Tom
