HP8640M manual wanted
2
Hi There, I need an HP8640B opt323 manual to fix my generator. I was told the manual is called an HP8640M for military. I've tried LOGSA and watched ebay for over a year, but nothing. The HP8640A and B manuals are some help, but there are some differences in the counter, and thats where my problem is. If you know where I can fnd one, please let me know. All costs reimbursed. PROM Programmer for HP5150A
2
Hi All, I have a thermal printer HP 5150A that requires a new character code PROM on the BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) circuit card. (The HP part number is 1816-0561.) The PROM is type 74S188 which is a 256 bit memory organised as 32*8 bits. I can purchase the IC and I can work out the required bit map but I have no way of programming the PROM. Anyone know of a circuit for a suitable PROM programmer for this chip or could provide this service for a fee? All I can find on the net are references to EEPROM or flash and newer chips. Thanks for any help, Kevin Chadwick

HP8569B question
3
Hi all, Is here someone kind enough to help me with my HP8569B? I got it today and I am little confused with frequency span button. Although it is marked up to 500MHz I can not set it to span greater than 10 MHz. It seems that it is somehow mechanically blocked, there is a small plastic rod going from analyzer's front panel towards the span knob and ending inside it. I did little research and figured out that this rod is actually the thing that blocks the span button from being turned further than to 10MHz span. Shall I press something or do some other action to disable that blocking? Thanks for any advice. Michal Vanka

HP54503A DSO Main Board Repair
Hello Group, I have a pristene 54503A DSO with a problem in the Horizontal timebase. It fails with many codes mostly related to the trigger area. I could supply the codes on request. Does anyone out in the ether have any experience fixing these boards? I have the HP service manual but as you probably know there are no schematics in the manual. If anyone has them I would like to get a set. As far as getting the unit repaired externally it most likely is not worth it since when HP last had exchange boards they wanted way more than what the scope is worth these days. I would like to put it to use in my ham shack. Thanks to all, Sam W3OHM

USM-323 HP8640M manual wanted
Hi Gang, Some more info has become available. It appears that it is not called the HP8640M. The correct name is the USM-323. Anyone have one of these? 73 Ray vk2ilv Roger said: > the opt.323 is not the same as the 8640M. > I have both manuals, but i still don't have the manual for the Opt.323 Ray said: > I need an HP8640B opt323 manual to fix my generator. > I was told the manual is called an HP8640M for military. > I've tried LOGSA and watched ebay for over a year, but nothing. > > The HP8640A and B manuals are some help, > but there are some differences in the counter, > and thats where my problem is. > > If you know where I can fnd one, > please let me know. > All costs reimbursed. > > Regards > Ray vk2ilv >

HP4260A needed
Hello all, I am after a working or otherwise HP4260A unit. I have one in good condition except for the large rotating resistor (R3). If you have one of these units, or know of one somewhere, I would like to know about it. Thanks Rod.

HP 652A Test Oscillator
Hi All, I have a 652a (s.n. 826-01432) that has output level problems but only at a very specific range of frequencies. On the x10 range from ~40Hz to ~75Hz, the output level seems to be modulated by another signal. I thought it may have to do with ripple on one of the supplies but everything looks clean. The level between 40Hz and 75Hz will swing virtually full scale on the meter at some frequencies but is relatively stable at 60Hz. On all of the other ranges, it's fine. I've downloaded a manual from BAMA but it's for the newer model and the boards are different. If someone has seen this problem and can point me in the right direction or knows where I can get an older service manual, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks PB

HP spectrum analyzers
4
Hello Group: I started a collection of Tektronix gear but have developed an interest in HP's assortment of spectrum analyzers. The 141T seems to offer the biggest variety and seems to be readily available on eBay. I'm interested in general comments about these instruments. Are they servicable, are parts generally available in generic form? Any recommendations? Thanks for your comments. HP 3320B
I have HP signal generator model 3320B with option 004 that works very well. However I don't know how to use the BCD programming connector at the rear. If anyone in this group has experience and/or information about how to use the remote programming I would like to take part of that.

HP 1820-0090 from 5216A counter
4
Hi all, I've got a dead 1820-0090 IC from an 5216A counter and am looking for a common replacement if it exists. Its function is "buffer storage" and it sits between a decade counter & a decoder driver chip. In my search I came across http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/hpparts.html which has heaps of HP semicond/IC cross reference data but unfortunately doesn't include the 1820-0090. Cheers Ian Du Rieu

Info on 3852A Data Acquisition Extenders
I'm looking for information on the HP 3852A Data Acquisition / Control Unit extenders. These are units that are "slave" to a master 3852A. Specifically, I'm looking for a wiring diagram of the digital cable (is it simply a pin-to-pin connection?), and what are the requirements (model number, options, etc.) for extension unit? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks! Tom Leedy

HP 3440A rear connectors
I have just acquired an old HP 3440A nixie tube rack mount DC voltmeter. Although I have the service manual for the 3440A, the rack mounted version is physically different from the one in the manual in a few ways. For one - there are no inputs on the front panel, just on the rear. There are 2 different BNC type jacks that I have never seen before. The ground is isolated from the chassis so there are actually 2 internal connectors along with the usual outer ground connector. Both jacks have these 2 internal contacts but both jacks are different styles. I've tried to look these up (google images etc) and have no idea what "type" they are so that I can get some kind of adaptor to use a BNC terminated probe or even banana terminated test leads. Thanks BL

Hi BL: I don't have experience directly with this connector but there are a couple of shielded connectors that use two contact pins. One is called Twinax and the other is used on the R-390 tube type military receiver.
