Manuals for an HP3456B DMM?

Does anybody know where I can find manuals for an HP3456B DMM?
The HP site has a manual for the 3456A, how different is the 3456B from the 3456A?
?
Thanks,
BobH

I had no idea they made a 3456B. Are you sure it isn’t a 3465B?

They made 3455s, 3456s, 3457s and 3458s. I think but am not sure that these were all "A" models, i.e., 3456A. My understanding is that the 3458A is the (or one of) gold standard(s).

I own a 3456A.

The 3458A is indeed the gold standard, and one of the few instruments to be made with all three names on the front.

I own a 3456A.
They are great meters, even (especially?) by today's standards.

Yes. There was a time when a 3458A was on my list of expensive instruments to acquire for my lab, but I ended up with the 3456A as an interim solution and it has fulfilled my needs. I wish I could find a replacement for the small aluminum panel on the RH side on which the binding posts are mounted because mine is badly and deeply scratched, but tha's a nit.

It sounds as if i should scan my 3456A manual and upload a copy of the PDF to the HP Wiki. I an in the process of scanning a Tektronix 7934 manual (the foldouts are tedious to properly scan), so the 3456A manual scan would be queued behind that.?

Everyone should own an HP 345xA, a Fluke 27 and af least one Simpson 260, lol.

I've never heard of a 3456B. I don't think there is one. It'd be very interesting to learn if that's not so.

Dave Daniel suggested that he maybe should scan and make
a pdf out of his HP3456<<<A>>> manual. I was trying to head
that off.

I looked in the following catalogs:

1986 - 3456A
1987 - 3456A
1988 - 3456A
1989 - 3456A
1990 - 3456A
1991 - 3456A
1992 - 3456A
1993 - 3456A
...
1997 - no 3456 model number in catalog
...
1999 - no 3456 model number in catalog
2000 -

So, if the "B" model exists, it would be in 1994, 1995, or 1996.

The 3458A was the only meter in the 34XX series in 1999.

Searching for HP3456B results in a couple of ChatGPT created
results that don't actually contain 3456"B".

Although the OP hasn't chimed in, I would bet he made a mistake.
I am pretty certain that no 3456B ever existed as a DVM.

FWIW, I can't put my hands on my '94 catalog at the moment, but the 3456A is no longer in the '95 one - it has the 3457A & 3458A.

I am not certain it is a 3456B. I got that number from a phone conversation from someone selling a pair of these meters, and a recollection from seeing said meters at a hamfest last year. I will be getting them soon, and will update when I have them in front of me.

I picked up the meters today. They are model 3456A. Both work, but need some cleanup. The power switch on on unit sticks on and the front/rear terminal switch is dirty. A quick checkout shows both reading within a few mV of my 34401A. Now I need to port my GPIB tools to talk to them.
