HP 8558/853A used with 8444A Opt 059

I'm using the subject Spectrum Analyzer and Digital Mainframe. Just
purchased a 8444A/059 Tracking generator and ran through basic
testing. My question relates to the "Manual Scan" function and
control. It would seem to me that the "Scan Output" connection on the
front of the 8444A would need to be connected to the "Horiz Sweep"
in/out of the 853A and the internal sweep switch in the 853A needs to
be set for external signal.I noticed that the signal provided by the
8444A is variable from 0 to +10 volts, while the required signal at
the input of the 853A must be -5 to +5. My first thought would be to
level shift the 8444A provided signal to accomodate the needs of the
853A. Am I on the right track? Is there something I'm missing? I would
like to gain the functionality offered by the Manual Scan function in
making high resolution frequency measurements along a displayed and
resolved waveform.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
