HP8648b corrupted firmware

Hi everyone,

I have an HP 8648B showing a 625 ROM checskum failure. The firmware is strored in 4 27C010 OTP ROMs. I could easily program new ones but I can't find a firmware file anywhere . Does someone here happens to have one ?

I have 8648b with broken RPP and programmer.
Will try to make dump tomorrow (about 12 hours later).

Wonderful !! you're the man ! thanks a lot!

Just a thought but I bought 2 8664's with an error code. I left them plugged in for 24hrs and it recharged the internal battery. Then it checked out fine, no errors. Might try just plugging it in for a couple of days and see if it works?

I got the memory module, but the chips are soldered, so I need more time to make the adapter to module connector.
I do not want to desolder OTP ROM, as I am not sure that they will survive.

In this case it didn't solve the issue.
?When the NMV becomes corrupted the firmware reloads the default configuration into it and you're done.
But in my case the ROM checksum is wrong indicating an EPROM 'bit rot'. I disassembled the firmware using Ghidra and still working on this

yup you're right. If things go bad we'll be both looking for a firmware...

I uploaded the firmware archive to the 8648 folder.
Keep in mind that the module has 16-bit data bus and you must mix U1 with U3 and U2 with U4 if you want to search something inside.

Wonderful! thanks a million ! yep I'm aware of that as I started reverse engineering my firmware with Ghidra and wrote a little python script to exactly that :-)
