HP83595A/B (HP 8350) ROM firmware required
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHere are the manipulations I did before reprogramming another Intel 2732A-3 EPROM. ? I read the 2 EPROM on my EPROM programmer and compare with the original files...no error. I have two 8350B (2309A and 2436A), the 83595A plugin has the same problem on both. The batteries of my 8350B have been changed, one in 2019 and the other one only 2 weeks ago. ? I get the A3 PCBs of the 2 other plugins I have (83522A and 83540A). I make the replacement with the A3 module of my 83595A and test on the two 8350B...no change. ? I decide to reprogram the EPROM, and I realize that one of the two is a 2732A-4 version instead of 2732A-3. The information from the K04BB site says that the EPROMs are 2732A-3. I make the change without much conviction, but everything worked after this change. I also tried the other combinations 8350B and A3 module, and in all cases, it works. ? I read again the content of the EEPROM 2732A-4, and there is no error. I had done several re-insertions of the EPROM and the A3 module before reprogramming EPROM, but it was always the same problem. ? Maybe there is a mystery behind it, but for now it still works. I'll see in the next few days, if it's still the case. ? -Yves De?: [email protected] <[email protected]> De la part de Yue ? " I checked everything again, and found that one of the EPROMs was an Intel 2732A-4 instead of 2732A-3. I had put a label that hid this information, so I didn't realize it immediately and it was when I started the process again that I saw the error. Now version 9 of the firmware works correctly. " ? That's good news! In fact I'm not sure the speed would be the problem - the CPU in the plugin clocked at several hundred KHz. I use the antique TMS2732AJL-45 EPROM (with an interesting pop up window) and got no problem at all! Your problem was more likely came from the connector on the back of the plugin or (less possible) a bad bit in the EPROM. Also, be sure remove the battery inside the 8350 it can make nasty problem when leak. ? *** Correct the typo: EPROM not EEPROM. Sorry to spam you again. ? |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýToo fast can be a problem with both old
and new circuits. Here's one simplified example of how problems
arise.
The key parameters are:
If the source is too slow, then its longer Tpd will eat into
Tsu to the point of failure. Often people think faster==better and typically Tsu>>Th, so people don't think enough about Th. On 25/03/22 23:57, Harvey White wrote:
