Pigtail style caps with shrink sleeving, tie wraps etc (NOT ELECTRICAL TAPE !) to hold them together, kind of a kludge...but effective

You could just leave the can in place, clip its leads, and solder new caps to the leads. If it's not a leaded-type can, you might have to remove it. But, in that case, make sure that the can itself was not part of the circuit. If it was, just jumper some wire(s) to recreate the connection(s). If you're more of a "purist", or, if there's just not enough room, you could either hollow it out and stuff the new caps inside of it, or, remove the can and install multiple caps in its place.
