Can capacitors

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Greetings,

From time to time I see that someone is working to repair or restore an instrument with the old multi capacitor metal can components and that appears to be a never ending struggle.

The other night I reconnected with an old friend with whom I had not spoken in a couple of years.

He has always had an interest in restoring old audio equipment. ?As we visited he mentioned a company that still builds Mallory style metal can capacitors. ?My friend said they even use the old, original equipment.

I was very surprised and actually found that a little hard to believe, but it turns out to be true.

While I do not know about configurations, minimum quantities or pricing it appears this company makes those old style metal can multi-unit capacitors.

I have no financial interest - or really - any other interest in this - just hoping it helps some of our group.

Regards,

Ken

Here's their sales website:

Will all due respect to the OP... if you go to the link, and view the marketing videos, it's all a lot dumber than it looks... in my opinion.

I have purchased and used these capacitors; they are excellent. In many cases, however, I find it is easier and less expensive to abandon the old capacitors in place and install new ones below the chassis where they are out of sight. With some exceptions (military, for example), vacuum tube equipment from the heroic age usually has space ¡®below the line,¡¯ making installation easy.

... and enter the spammers, right on cue.

And after posting that link I found out that you have to have a business to buy from them. They apparently won't sell to individuals. Shame.

Just take the SKU off that site and search for it.? There are many vendors.? The first one,?C-EC20X4-475 (4x20uF, 475V) goes for about $40.

Not that I need any, but useful information to know that they exist IMO.

That first one appears to be a good candidate for one of the HP-410C's filter caps.

Thanks,

Before you can view the prices you need to register, when you do this you have to declare that the products are not for personal use and submit your business details.

Hi Folks.

CE Dist is in the same building as Antique Electronic Supply in Tempe, AZ. They are just a wholesale arm of the same company.
You can find CE caps at TubesAndMore.com

Dan in Chandler, AZ

Go to https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/capacitors?filters=Brand%3DCE%20Manufacturing

They sell the CE Mfg can caps.

This has been exactly my approach as well, when I was into doing that sort of work...
