HP83651A HPGL language settings

Hi,
?
does anybody happen to know which rear dip switch language setting belongs to which programming language?
I could not find this in the manuals, probably simply not seeing it.
Right now it is set to 001 which must be analyzer mode as it is running in an 8510C system.
Which setting is SCPI language?
?

Check page 5-3 of the Service Guide here - ? .? The Guide is for the 21, 31, 51 Bs but is spookily similar to the 21, 31, 51 As that is on the Keysight sight.? To boot, the B manual is actually OCRed.
?
It is not exactly what you asked for, but worth a look.
?
Hope this helps,
Bert

Hi Bert,
?
many thanks for the link and the page pointer.
For the odd chance I replaced 83621B in your link by 83621A, and ho and behold, that's the link to the 83621A service manual. :-)
The same picture on the same page of both manuals, but:
83621A manual says 000 is TMSL mode
83621B manual says 000 is SCPI mode
?
TMSL and SCPI aren't the same, are they?
?

Nice URL hacking... I should have thought of that!
?
I have no idea what (or if) the difference between TMSL and SCPI would be.
?
That said, compare the text on 5-3, I think there are nuances in the B that might clear things up for you. Specifically the line "See Figure 5-1 and set the synthesizer to SCPI now."? The same text block in the A specifies "TMSL" and the DIP bit patterns are the same between the two manuals.
?
Best of luck!

Hi Bert,
?
TMSL (I guess it means Test and Measurement Script Language) appears to be the old HP terminology for SCPI.
Anyway, 000 appears to be the correct setting. The box understands *IDN? now, which is SCPI.
Now, if there only was a decent programming manual for the 8360.
Any idea how to set CW mode, a frequency and an output power?
?
Tom
