3585A repair

I got a defect 3585A. The nice heavy metal spec do the following:

After switch on: The lights in the buttons are on, but it looks to be a half of intensity. The both red lights are full on.

The screen displays nothing, I think there is no start of the CPU.

Voltages.

checked to be OK and without ripples,

5,3V
7,7V
12V
+18V and -18V

There are the 5 green LED for voltages ON.
not one yellow LED (means overloaded PSU).

= OK

I found the dokument, sevice manual 2, on the hp page, its a artk scanned document.

thank you for tips and instructions how to continue, I need repair this fine instrument.

greetings from germany
Martin

Hello Martin, you may have already checked this, but in case you haven't...The 3585A is very sensitive to board seating issues, more so than many other instruments of era. It's common for a 3585A to stop working after it has been moved. I suggest re-seating each of the boards and trying again. Clean the card-edge connectors with DeOxit or similar, if you have it on hand.

Good luck. The 3585A is a nice analyzer.

thank you Dave.

I will remove and clean them, this will take some time.
The unit was in the junk container and got a beat on the backside, but it was found and so it found the way to me :-)It looks to me as a "no start of CPU".

The receiver area will deliver ny failure message on the screen if there are problems. But actually I have nothing, there is no signal to the monitor.
