8340B option removal
Has anyone had occasion to remove option 006 and restore the pulse modulation feature on an 8340B? The one I’m looking at seems to have all the hardware in place (A21 pulse modulator board, A9 low band pulse modulator, A16 high band pulse modulator) just like the unit next to it but selecting pulse modulation gives me an “option not installed” error message. I’ve changed cal constant 60 Configuration to match the 8340B with pulse modulation but I still get the error message. I no longer have access to the 08340-10009 software package and I remember it having a “Utility” menu that allowed you to change the option configuration. If it’s not a simple cal constant change, is there something I’m missing somewhere?
Thanks, Steve |
I have two 8341B, one with the "option not installed" notification and the other without. I have swapped A60 boards and the notifcation follows the A60 board into the other machine. I have also tried to copy all the EPROM content from one without to the other with the notification, but no change. I have not tried any further, but I felt it was worth mentioning.

开云体育When do you get the “option not installed” message? Constantly or when you try to select a particular function?Steve On May 20, 2024, at 5:05?AM, saevar via groups.io <saevartj@...> wrote:

开云体育Actually, no. The options are set in the calibration constants, except for 006 (delete pulse modulation) and 007 (relaxed phase noise specification). 007 is a hardware thing, 006 is on the A60 board and I suspect it’s in the EEROMs and the service software must talk to them. I have had several 8340Bs and 8341As with various combinations of options and the jumpers on A60 the CPU card are all closed on all boards. I have a spare processor card and after some upcoming travel I’m going to socket all of the programmable devices and do some experimenting. Substituting a DIP switch for the jumpers will be part of the game as I’m really curious about their function. They’re not mentioned in any of the manuals I have.?There is also a procedure in the service software about loading “all three strings” for the options so I need to get my Series 200 back online and play with that a bit, too.? 开云体育Can you scan the schematic that shows the jumpers, that would be a huge benefit to everyone. The schematic that I have doesn’t show it.?The attenuator option, adding or deleting the attenuator, is not just the plug, you also need to change the cal constant for attenuator configuration. I have two on the bench right now and after we return from our travels I’ll try installing an attenuator and not changing the cal constant. From memory (which may not be 100% these days) the attenuator didn’t work until the cal constant was changed.? Steve On May 21, 2024, at 7:40?PM, Bruce via groups.io <bruce@...> wrote:
