Re: [hp agilent equipment] HP-8640B fine tune plastic joint
Hello Frank,
I replaced my frequency vernier shaft coupling with a piece of small bore, high pressure flexible hosing. I cleaned both shafts with meths, wiped dry, fitted the tubing over the longer shaft, aligned the two ends and then slid the tubing back over the shorter section. I then fastened the tubing in place with two small hose clamps. 73 de Brian, VK2GCE, Brian Clarke BE, MBA, PhD, CPEng, FIEAust MD, Clarke & Associates P/L

HP 856X SA with 11970 series external mixers
Hi,
I have an HP 8563E spectrum analyzer that I use with the 11970 series of un-preselected external mixers. It has Firmware Revision 940622 installed. According to the manual for the 11970 mixers, in order to use the Signal Identification function, you must either have Firmware Revision less than or equal to 920528 or else have Option 008. So it appears that, for some reason, HP removed this function from later versions of the 856X series of SAs. And my 8563E lacks Option 008. Absent the Signal Identification function, does anyone know of a way to identify spurious signals when using the 11970 series of external mixers? Thanks! Ray Perrin VE3FN |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? Obviously I had done something wrong with uploading pictures. But now it worked: Span for screen shot is 0,2MHz/Div. ? I think I have located the problem to L2/C2 which cannot be tuned to a definite maximum. I will desolder and measure the parts. ? Regards Ernst ? ? ? |

RESTORING HP 8160A HELP w/ ROM IMAGE - HINTS
hello, I am restoring a 8160A if someone has the ROM image (use uprocess MC6809) and can send the file ... The ROM image of the older model (7 ROMs use the MC6800 uprocess) would also be useful. Any other maintenance tip of this equipment would be welcome. Thank you in advance to all colleagues ..! |

8720B Option 003 Extended Dynamic Range
Mr Kevin Hobbs
Hi
I would like to install option 003 in my 8720B. I understand that this entails adding a 6dB Att in the main arm of the port 2 coupler to the sampler. Does anyone have any more information or a copy of the field installation instructions? I have the Keyword. Thanks, Kevin |

HP-8640B fine tune plastic joint
Hi all,
does anyone have a clever idea on how to replace that stupid little flexible plastic joint on the fine frequency tune shaft? I'm not even going to dream about gluing the two broken parts together, joint surface is so small that I think it's a miracle that it holds at all from the beginning. Thanks in advance. Re: Help with HP 8657B Signal Generator
Bob Albert
Thanks for the caveats.? Actually I was concerned about many of those same issues.? I still would like to fool around with GPIB but I will wait on that.? Even at around $50 it wouldn't be cost effective for my desires, which are only to get acquainted with the bus and see what I can figure out to do with it.? I never was much of a digital guy but the technology has so much digital in it these days that I might as well bite the bullet and see what I can learn. As for my sweep generator requirement, it's been solved in an entirely different manner, not using the HP generator at all, but a spectrum analyzer with a tracking generator.? The generator does the sweeping and the analyzer detects the filter output. I am learning how to make the SA do some of the things I didn't realize it could do, and am very happy to have it. My 8657B still needs work; it won't put out the full voltage in the spec, and when I command any output voltage above, say, 500 mV, I get distortion instead.? I don't need that much signal yet it would be cool if I could fix it. Additionally, there is an output for a spectrum display on my Kenwood transceiver but nothing much seems to come out of it.? Nowhere in the documentation is that signal described.? I have another unit like it and it's the same way. So many projects, so little time.? And electronics is by no means my only hobby... Hi Tim.....I have the manual for the HP-8568B and know how to change it's HP-IB address but I have not been able to locate The Operation and Interconnection?Manual for the 7550A. ?I have the??doc but the interconnect document is the one that I am missing that will help me read what address the plotter is currently set to and how to change it to something different. ?There are no dip switches or dip-bank that I spotted on the back to allow me to easily alter that setting.
I wonder if anyone had the Operation and Interconnection document they could share with me. ?Thank you for helping out Tim. Gedas, W8BYA Gallery at Light travels faster than sound....? This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.? ? |

I assume, you have configured addressing on units/printer as recomended by HP? Hello Group. ?I have been having a blast with my new to me HP-8568B SA, and since I had an old HP-7550A plotter available, I thought it would be fun to see if I could get them connected together and get some hard copies plotted. My plotter has both an HP-IB and RS-232 interface and thus I have connected the two instruments together with an HP HP-IB interface cable I assume is good. ?I am not having much luck in knowing where to go next as far as configuring either the plotter or SA to make them see and talk to each other. I have DL the manual for the SA but not for the plotter yet and have not read the SA yet WRT plotter operations. Is there anyone who can work with me on or off-line to get these two working together? ?TU. Gedas, W8BYA Gallery at Light travels faster than sound....
