Also I don’t know about that division number. As I was coming into Opto-Elec (div 11??) they were just moving into their new digs which was building 91 and 93 down in Santa Clara.

The way I heard it it had been Opto-Elec and Semiconductos in Bldg 11 and 12 (on Page Mill down from corporate) then they split that division up.

Fat finger and old farts disease, I did get the info for the 1901-0533.
The 100mA did look funny, but that would be abt. 40mW and it does make sense for a fed bias voltage drop

Re: Clarification : Brass gears for the 8640B

开云体育

Fellow HP 8640 signal generator owners with damaged gears.

I have been producing "sets" of brass gears for either the 8640B and the the 8640 OPT 323 for nearly 10 years, and advertised them on this reflector on occasion.? There is no question on the blanks that I use as to where they come from and how they are made.? They are made from cast brass in China and are purchased over the counter from a American industrial company.?

I just finished the installation of gears which appeared to be produced on a CNC machine for a fellow.? In my opinion, they were very nicely made gears, but was not a complete set.? They installed easily and are smooth operating.? I have no idea who made them or what the cost.? In the process of putting them in I learned that who ever sold them to the gentleman had plagiarized my installation package and sent the info under his post.

As I have said in the past, what ever I can do to help keep the old generators going I am delighted to help with.? Making gear sets is definitely not a major part of my retirement income.? hi? hi
Also, My gear sets have life time guarantee.

In conclusion, Yes I'm still making the HP 8640 gear sets.? If you are interested please feel free to contact me off list.? I will be happy to work with? you.

Mike,

As in all things it depends on how much you want to spend. Keysight still supports the 34401A - unit exchange is $768 and I believe that includes calibration. Calibration is also still available at about $230ish.
I ordered the display PCA from Keysight and replaced it easily enough. There are also aftermarket suppliers offering them on eBay but I went with Keysight as I needed some other parts as well.
Mine still compares close enough with my 3458A so I passed on calibration for now.

Re: Capture from HP4192A and plot

I should point out to the curious that the plot shows the Maxwell-Wagner effect due to the water sample being in a ziplock bag and placed between the capacitor plates.

Older equipment such as the HP4191A, 4192A, and 4193A do not have built in plotting to a 7470A plotter so John Miles emulator does not work with them.
I am using a very simple method that requires little or no programming experience. I use a Prologix GPIB to USB to connect to my HP test equipment. I then use Ulrich Bangert's EZGPIB to acquire the data, Notepad++ to massage the data because it can select, copy, and move columns. I then use Ulricht's DF6JB Plotter to make the plots. Unlike Excel the plotter is easy to use and can export a picture in .bmp (2.5 MB) or .emf (50 kB) pictures which can be pasted into a document. The .emf will not paste here or to gmail but will paste into MS Word. The picture below is the example in my uploaded note and is a .bmp file.
I would like to hear from anyone who can get a left and right axis working on the DF6JB Plotter or any other. Sometime it is nice to display Magnitude and Phase from the Impedance Analyzers. In the same folder is another file that explains how I have managed to do this but I am not happy with the methods.
The DF6JB Plotter is easy to use and two traces with the same left scale can be plotted for comparison. The plotter has buttons for a right hand axis but I cannot get it to work. Unfortunately Ulricht is no longer with us. The plotter should be available on the Prologix site but if not drop me an email. PeterB
