Thanks for the offer but I think I will
go with a 3D print.
Mine has broken off right at the end,
probably where yours below transitions from dark grey to light
grey, so I should be able to slide it in from the front. Probably
got broken when someone threw it on to the roadside rubbish
collection where I found it.?
Good work on the forming and thanks
again.

Re: HP8657B doubler issue
Bob Albert
It's a small world I guess. If I had that doubler I might try to reverse engineer it a bit to see if the problem is tractable.? It seems you have no trouble with the doubling circuitry, but the control circuit is messed up.? When the supply dropw, is it due to overload or insufficient available current?? Or perhaps voltage instability.? Lift the appropriate wire and insert a milliammeter.? Without a diagram it's more challenging. I have a similar problem with a 3455A voltmeter.? It works great excapt it won't switch into 4 wire Ohms mode.? I have the cover off and am trying to see how that works.? I think there are relays involved so I might look for a burnt out relay driver or a bad connection.? It could also be a logic problem, and if so I am out of luck. Bob

Re: HP 8720D - Debugging story
Derek, if I had to make a guess, I would say that the previous owner did a DIY installation of the "8720DU Opt. 000 Peformance Update Kit". That would explain many of the problems you are seeing (pinched cable, heat sink, missing options in the firmware, and maybe more). Do a web search for document no. 08720-90372. This describes the conversion to the new CPU board and data entry into the EEPROM.

Hey Alberto, looks like Artek Manuals has a scan (). Maybe you should hit them up for a copy? Regards, Siggi On Mon, Apr 8, 2019 at 12:11 PM Alberto, IZ2EWV <iz2ewv@...> wrote: Hello friends, |
need original Service Manual of 8970B Noise Figure Meter
Hello friends,
I'm based in Italy (for who should decide to help me...) and I have some issues around my 8970B, standard version (without options). The only PDF copy of the Service Manual of this version, which is available in the Web, was scanned in a bad way:
I ask you if anybody got a good scanned version or could borrow me an original paper manual, that I could scan in the best way and then share with you, once the job has been completed. Obviously, I should pay the shipping costs or consider other requests. Thank You in advance, Alberto, IZ2EWV |
Power Switch Button for HP 1631D
开云体育I am missing the button on the end of the power switch on my HP 1631D. It can still be turned on by pushing the switch with a screw driver but doesn't look the best. Does anyone know if these switch buttons can be sourced or is it a 3D print job? I don't have the CLIPs for the unit so I can't identify the switch number but it looks like the shaft on a standard push button switch except the shaft is at 45 degrees (looks like a diamond from the front) and the standard push button is generally not contoured. Thanks Dave

Tracked down the fault in a 8560E to failure of the regulator transistor in the 100Mhz VCXO. Substituted the supply and the oscillator circuit is drawing little current so I am not sure why it would have failed except there is evidence someone changed the crystal so might have been their fault. The transistor is listed is a 1854-1094 or manufacturer part number PTX2222A. Google this results in a lot of Japanese and NPN thrown in the mix. The Equivalents List says it is a MTX2222A which is also a mystery. I am assuming it is a SMD style 2N2222A but the under body solder pad with the 4 legs has me a bit concerned it might be something special. Anyone know this device? ? ?

Re: HP 8720D - Debugging story
Derek Kozel
I've done some basic testing and found a few fun things. I borrowed a calibration kit and was able to make full two port measurements that match expectations between 500 MHz and 2 GHz. The calibration seemed good up to 20 GHz, but I need a better DUT to check that. I'm making a Beatty Standard this week to test with. A replacement BR-2/3A battery arrived and will get installed tonight. |
