Filter Cap Replacement

rogwesten

I am wanting to replace some of the electrolytic filter
caps in my HP 141T display section.
One of the caps is a two section twist-lok. I can't seem to find
a 2-section replacement.
What are my alternatives?
Thanks
Roger

HP 428B Clip-On DC Milliammeter

Helloo all, how "in store" can you check out a HP 428B Clip-On DC
Milliammeter without the probe? Any caveats, or things to watch for?
Thanks

Hello Kevin.
?
This is Robert. Thank you for your e-mail. Currently I don't have a manual for the HP 1710A scope, however I run accross (alot) of test gear and many times there are also manuals that accompany the test gear and when I locate one I will let you know.
?
Also, you are welcome to stay in touch and let me know of any other HP and Tektronix manuals that you have need of as I do run accross even the Tektronix manuals too.
?
By the way, I am currently in search of the older Hewlett Packard and the older military version (large and heavy) oscilloscopes. Is there a possibility that you might have any for sale, or perhaps you might know of someone who does?
?
Hope you don't mind, I am enclosing a few models of the oscilloscopes that I am in search of. If you happen to have any, or when you run accross any, or if you know of anyone who might have one or more models please let me know.
?
Enclosed is a partial list of what I am in search of. Thanks for your time and have a great day.

Again, if you or anyone you know might have any of these, or perhaps you could point me in the direction where I could locate any of these I am very grateful for your help. Thank you for your time and you and yours have a great day.

Hi Everyone,?

I have just joined your group as I have started to repair HP scopes
and other similar equipment.? I am also a member of the Tektronix
group so I hope this is not held against me...

I need a manual or CD for the HP 1710A scope.? In particular I would
like information on the HVPS (all two of them for Bright Scan?).? I
have access to 1707A, 1710B and 1741A manuals but the 1710A seems to
be a hybrid of some sort.?

If anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

If I recall there are two xtal oscillators.? They are both designed along the same lines.? Check the output on a good digital scope with at least 500 mhz bw.? You will see where the problems begin,? you will see noise & non linear waveforms.?If there is a problem here?it will only get worse as you move through the instrument.? ?I'd find a service manual somewhere before you start the process.? The attenuators will likley need cleaning as well.??After you clean them switch the?gold?plated finger?around,? this will sometimes help.

3457A error "9 NOT CAL'D"

I recently acquired an HP 3457A. The instrument seems to work, but I
get error "9 NOT CAL'D" when switching to ohm and freq functions and
on completion of the self test, even though it says "SELF TEST OK". I
do not get any HW errors and the cal ram seems to be working. Anybody
have any ideas what could be causing this? Any info on error codes
and the DIAGNOST and TEST commands would be greatly appreciated as I
don't have any manuals.

They all do that. The 8656A has a lot of close-in phase noise. Not clean
enough for any SSB work that requires an extremely stable reference.

I have a HP8656A signal generator. Works fine for FM and AM.
However, when using it to test a SSB receiver there is a
pronounced "warble" in the tone and it is serious enough to affect
the measurements. Any clue as to where to look for the trouble? A
friend of mine bought one at the same time and place as I did (used
equipment dealer) and his does the same thing. Any ideas or
suggestions on how to repair it? Thanks,

Agilent did not write this software themselves, but
sourced it from a third party. Agilent could not
allow unlimited downloads legally.

However, I see that they do appear to have a "free
trial" for four weeks of the software. Might be worth
trying that.

Go to their website - www.agilent.com - and enter
"E4444A" in the search box. You'll get several links,
including one to the free trial download.

As I recall, the software works with the 8590 and 8560
series analyzers. Benchlink runs on your PC, and you
have to have a physical way to connect the PC and
spectrum analyzer. For the 8560 series, only an HPIB
card can do this. For the 8590 series, it can be HPIB
or serial, depending on which options you have
installed in the analyzer.

Hope this helps!

OK, Richard, I'll see what I can do. I'll need a couple of days to dig these up out of (shudder!) "The Storage". I don't maintain the scope in-cal any more and the manuals are in the dead file. Did you say that you had an 1809 or an 1809A? Send me the three S/Ns, privately if you wish, and I'll check S/N applicability when I find the books.

I'm not unwilling to copy the books for you but it's a matter of time. The three together must be at least an inch thick, IIRC. And they're glue bound and I know would fall apart if forced hard enough for decent copies. We'll see.

In any event, perhaps we should take this thread private. Don't know if anyone else would care much about the gory details.

So how's the weather in Modesto?

Hi Fred,
OK,how about the HV section ?
What has happened, is similar to "blooming" in a TV set.
I haven't removed the side panels, yet. Focus, etc, has no effect.
But, the problem may be in the sweep section.
The scope looks like in fair condition. Hard telling what this scope
went through. One of the wrapcord foot is broken.
Some knobs are hard to turn.
Other than that, looks like a nice scope.
For now, I'll suspect the HV section.
Now, got to put together my 2 Tek 465M's. Atleast,my Tek 7704A
(newest)works. Can use this one to troubleshoot the rest.
Thanks Fred.
If you like, you can send the info to blackbag@....
BTW, I'm Richard.Now you know.
