Re: Introduction

Hi Robert,

I have two HP scopes. One is a 130C, which I will probably keep, at least for now. The other is a 140A with 1405A and 1420A plug ins. I will sell the 140A but at this time I have no idea what condition it is in, either cosmetically or functionally. If you are interested in the 140A let me know and I will check it out and get back to you.

I also have an 851B Spectrum Analyzer Display, but I only have the display, not the rest of the unit. I will probably scrap the 851B for parts so if you need any knobs or other scope parts contained in the display unit I might be able to help you.

With best wishes,

Jack

Greetings All,
I am a new member of the group and am looking forward to an enjoyable
time here.
I have a large inventory of HP boat anchors which I want to dispose of.
Some I want to sell as functional units, others might get parted out if
there is any market for these parts. There are over 60 units consisting
of these models: 130C, 140A, 1900A, 200CD, 214A, 302B, 342A, 400D,
400H,
411A, 415B, 428A, 431B, 5210A, 523C, 606A, 608C, 608D, 612A, 614A,
616A,
618B, 626A, 694A, 851B, 8690A, and probably a few others.
Any suggestions for disposing of this would be appreciated. I also need
manuals for most models and there are just too many to buy them. I
think
that there are downloadable manuals for the equivalent military units
but I don't know the military model numbers. Is there a cross reference
list available?
Thanks,
Jack

hp 5100A /5110A synth set

morriso2002

Hi all,

I'm new to this group, but not so new to vintage HP and other test
equipment. I'm sure there are a few familar names here!

I have recently found a nice clean 5100A/5110A synthesizer set and
would like to get it up & running.
I tried the 5110A and found two problems:

1. The 1 MHz output is fine but none of the other outputs are there

2. The oven temp meter reading just keeps getting higher & higher
till the meter goes off scale...obviously I have not left it in
standby mode!

Help! I really need some advice and especially a set of manuals. I am
located in Melbourne Australia and would be happy to pay for copying
& postage costs if anyone can help.

Thanks,

Morris Odell

HP 3310A Function Generator - Problem

David Jarman

I managed to switch off and on my trusty HP 3310A yesterday while it
was connected to an audio system (not good practise!) and it now
refuses to generate a signal from the low/high outputs. The mains
indicator light comes on and the fuse appears OK.

I don't have a circuit diagram. Can anyone help me to get my 3310A
operational again please?

Thanks in anticipation.

David Jarman

follow-up - HP 3439A

computeruser04

The HP 3439A has been repaired. It was C8 on A9 that had failed.
I then zeroed the readout it using a calibration procedure found at
.
Thanks to everyone who replied. I also have a service manual
on the way to me from Joe VE7LBI.

Question - I zero the readout after a 30minute warmup. All ranges
read 0000 with the + & - flashing alternately. The Int Check -8000
is also set per the precedure. It will stay like that (zeroed) all
day. If I turn it off then back on the next day - the zero
calibration is off - not by much - sometimes +0001 or -0002. I can
zero it again - and it will stay like that all day. Is this normal
or am I being anal about a +35 year old instrument?

Thank
BL

Robin,

I have bunches of HP manuals, at: .

For the 1740A, it loos like all I have is the operator's guides, not a service manual.

I think ONE of the ones that I have might also be downloadable from agilent.com .

Good luck!

I am interested in the manual if it is a service manual with
a schematic. You say it is the same as the 3449 (typo?)
Is it the same as the 3439 except for the sampe rate?
If so I am interested. leave me an email or web address

Re: HP 3439A

Ripple is about 1.5v on the 150v supplies and about .5v on the 50v
supply. This site:
has the calibration procedure for the 3439A which gave me some more
good information.
This site: mentions the
3440A which is very similar and their unit has the same symptoms:
"The nixie tubes light up, but multiple segments are on
simultaneously" so I am thinking this problem is common on these
units. Thanks for the replies so far.

I also have a Systron Donner 6152A, 500 mHz Nixie freq. counter and it also works perfect.? I love Nixies -no reading glasses required!? The pinnacle of display technology, IMHO, ?was planar gas.? LCD displays were the downfall of modern electronics- screw low power consumption!?
