I am quite satisfied with my printer but don't have a cheap source of? toner.? Further, HP has a reputation of paper feed problems due to broken plastic gears.? Yes duplex is an add on but it's a good one.

I have a model 5000 too and it sucks.? My Brother and Savin units are fast and great but the Savin is out of toner.

I really don't like inkjet printers.? The ink isn't waterproof, and they gobble it up in expensive style.? Clogged heads too.

I want a color laser.? I have two but they don't work, both HP 1500.? My daughter lets me use her HP but it's a cheapie and I don't want to use it up.

Bob,

The duplexer is a mechanical add-on. It won't natively do duplex.

These things are great. Easy to work on. Awesome for printing manual pages when doing a project.

Hit control+P and give it 100 pages. Spits it out and asks for more.

Replace Neon NE-2 with Zener in 141T PSU?

Hi All,

I have recently acquired an HP-141T with the 8554B and 8552B plugins. Over the past month, the fuses in the plugins have blown three times. I've heard this can be an indication of an issue with the display section's PSU.?

Looking at the schematic and the board I have, I appear to have the older revision which uses neon lamps as a voltage reference. The lamp in my PSU board is pretty black looking -- that may be normal, I don't know.

At any rate, I wonder if I can replace the V1 neon with a 62 volt zener diode? Part number?2EZ62D5/TR8CT-ND from digikey, for example? I think any difference in the absolute level could be trimmed out using the +100V adjust pot. The biasing for the neon is a 5.6k resistor, I think that would work ok for the zener, but I could change it presumably.?

Thoughts??

Thanks,

Re: HP 8566B / 8568B bus interconnect cable

What sort of problems are you looking to have with it?
It is simply a parallel connection at HSWP In/Out, Pin 44, wire is white with black/green tracer.
Connector is $15 outside world option (not used), unless you have an actual piece of equipment to connect it to. It stops the sweep during a band change. If you have that particular cable acting funny, open it and look at the solder connections. I have several cables -60094 and -60220 that look like they were used for carcass hangers with pulled wires broken inside of housing.

Can this be done from the front panel as well or do I need to open up the unit and mess with the video driver PCB?

USB Power Probe Calibration software

I have acquired an in-calibration U8485A opt 200 USB thermocouple power sensor and a way out of certified calibration U2001H USB diode power sensor. I also have the latest N1918A Power Panel (free version) and the latest full BenchVue (on trial for 3 more weeks).

Does anyone know about the (probable) software that can read (and write) the calibration data to these probes? Is a "secret' option in one of the packages I have? If not, how can I get it?

Thanks for your help.

Re: OT: Datron or Wavetek Manuals

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi Dave,

A good number of years ago I acquired an older, used, Wavetek calibrator. ?I don¡¯t remember the model number off hand, but it didn¡¯t come with a manual.

I tried all the normal channels to find a manual and had absolutely no luck. ?I even called the factory and they were unable to help.

Out of final frustration I wrote the president of Wavetek a letter explaining that it was a shame to scrap such a nice piece of gear simply because I can¡¯t find a manual and therefore can¡¯t repair the unit.

He sent me a manual.

I assume you have checked the offerings on eBay.

Dave at ?lists the operating and programming manual. ?Apparently it is not a service manual and it does not include schematics.

Best of luck!

Regards,

Ken

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a complete set of User and Service Manuals for the
Datron/Wavetek 4808 calibrator.

In addition to the basic calibrator I also want manuals for Option 60 (aka
Datron 4600 Transconductance Amplifier) and Option 70 which is the
10Hz-30MHz Wideband Source

Ideally would like paper manuals but failing that I can manage with PDFs.

Aside to Dave H. - I notice that you have a PDF of the User manual for the
basic calibrator available - does it contain anything useful about either
the 4600 or Option 70 and is it complete (including Chapters 7 and 8)?

Thanks

Re: 8595E suddenly faulty

As to frequency range issue on your other S/A. If you have a signal generator or other source use something like a mini-circuits mixer and look at the difference frequency

Alternatively get one of the cavity type frequncy meters and a crystal detector

Im assuming you dont have a microwave counter

HP 8745ES

I have a problem with this unit. I have not used it for some time now but it was working fin then. But now when I switch the unit. the trace is not good and has large parts in it where it win not on the screen at all When I look at the R channel that's the same as the A/R channel. It looks like big steppes on the trace and these steps get longer as it sweeps fro 300KHz to 3GHz.

I have not seen anything like this fault.

Can anyone give me a clue ?

I have measured the supply rails and they seem to be fine and stable.

These are their part number:

23-41 5747
70 Duro Black Buna N
There would be a choice of material but these seem to be what was needed. You have to ask them for a quote and the unit price comes down significantly when you buy several hundred. Then they insist on shipping UPS when they would fit in an envelope...

I think I got 800 in the end and most extras went to the -hp- group at around $10 for 50.
