I highly recommend Artek - excellent quality, actual page size (no schematic tiled partial scans), bookmarked - everything is top notch.? I personally have an 11x17 color printer home and a binding machine and bind my own with their scans. The result is a better manual than an original sourced from eBay, and as I may end up doing repairs and adjustments, I can annotate it as I wish (which I'd never do on a genuine manual), and this way also have a future record of my accrued data and the work performed on that instrument, which I want to preserve regardless.? Marco, ? LOG/LIN measurements 300 MHz and 1500 MHz, 0dB to 60dB attenuators are normal, obviously with a 50 or 60dB attenuator, at 1500 MHz, the signal will be noisy. ? ResBW test are normal too. ? Flatness measurement 10MHz to 1.8GHz are normal, your calibration constants for this section are all at 0dB correction. In my case, without correction, I have a slope of -4.6dB between 10MHz and 1.8GHz. ? The test of the attenuator from 0dB to 60dB at 300 MHz and -20dBm is normal. ? For the SPAN test at 999.8MHz, relatively normal. The fluctuation between 999.54 and 1.00022GHz is partly related to the frequency resolution for the marker in normal mode for a span of 15 MHz/400 points. Added to this is the stability of the center frequency by the COUNTER LOCK link. There is a correction that is done at each sweep to correct the center frequency and based on the reference. ? 
? Obviously, the most important thing is to fix the problem related to the FREQ UNCAL message. ? Yves

Yes, the 54620-61601 is one option. ?It has an easy-to-deal-with 0.1" 2x20 header connector on the chassis side, but can be a bit pricey because it is used on current Keysight products. ?You will need two of them to support all the inputs on the 5032.
?
Another option is the 01650-61607, which is a woven 40-pin to 40-pin cable, and both ends are 0.1" 2x20. ?With this you would again need two, and you would get two flying lead sets. ?The cable looks like this:

Since the part numbers on any of these cable assemblies are not actually printed on it, ebay and other sellers often just list them as "hp pod" or "agilent pod" cables, since those words do appear on the shells. ?You'll have better luck price-wise if you search for those terms, although you'll also get a lot of junk to wade through.

At these frequencies it¡¯s always a bit iffy to stack up coax adapters like that, but you would normally see a gradual ¡®suckout¡¯ rather than an abrupt loss of continuity in the sweep if that were the problem.? Zoom in on a CW signal in that region and hit the PRESEL PEAK button.? Hopefully that will bring the signal level up.? ? I actually don¡¯t recall if the peaking constant is stored in NVRAM on these boxes, as mine have rarely needed it.? If so, and if your lithium battery has been replaced, you may have lost the previous peaking constants.? In that case it may be helpful to re-create them at various frequencies. ? You could also have an issue on the preselector tuning board.? Approach that with caution, and rule out everything else first.? There is a specific calibration step for lining up frequencies in different bands. On this analyzer it seems to be off.

with the help of Yves, (and of the nice TinySA Ultra)?I recently got my 8595E up and running again,?after it?had been sitting idle for a years,?waiting to replace the YTO and the Switched Yttrium Tuned Filter at the signal input Now I noticed that by varying the REF LEVEL spikes appear exactly like in your case (see your post below); the same ones disappear if I exclude the corrections Did you then solve the problem?

A5 seems broken, G6 looks somewhat suspicious. The level being about 15dB off also fits the A5 16dB attenuator not working. I'll take out the A7 Analog board to directly solder a wire to U111 pins 8 and 9 to see if the output of the 74HC374 has failed or that the IOB12 is faulty.?
Perhaps the function of IOB12 is identifiable because IOB12 also switches several other signals like A7 U201 Pins 2 and 3 (10dB Section in or out), A7 U11 pin 19 (ATP1), d4 of A7 U104 (Bw control Dac), A7 U107 pin 9 (IFG5). Since IFG5 seems to work I suspect IOB12 must be working.?

Then some other strange behavior caught my eye. Ofcourse we can expect some additional noise since both the LogAmp and the Amp control have quite some gain, they mis the top of the enclosure and they have several antennas running off the board to measure the levels, but a big difference was observed in noisefloor between two ref levels.?
Note the 2 plots below. The only difference is Ref level -9 and -10. The -9dB ref has upward spikes jumping around, the -10dB has downward spikes but a ~15dB higher noisefloor.
I guess this might have to do with the 16dB attenuator not kicking in.

Are G4/G5/G6 at the same levels on your analyzer??

I took off all the additional test wires and build the analyzer back into its enclosure. (For now I just left the Fast ADC option out to not introduce any potential new issues_ Next let it run for > 1 hr and did a full selfcal.
Most of it looks good I think, one new issue seems to have popped up though. With span settings between 300MHz and 10MHz I get a flashing "FREQ UNCAL"? on the display. Googled a bit, could this be the flatcable to the YTO? The analog board and RF section have been moved around quite a bit so this could ofcourse have caused a bad connection.?

And measured some signals generated by the TinySA, considering the expected accuracy of the TinySA, there is not too much that can be said but at least they seem to agree.

I tested one frequency with the TinySA, set it to 999.8MHz, and checked the peak mkr freq at different spans. Mostly 15MHz seemed to showcase the issue with the mkr jumping around between 2 frequencies.?
I think it would be best to focus on the Freq Uncal error a bit now before adding the FADC option and seeing if I can do some kind of gain correction. Do you have any other ideas than the YTO cable??
?
Also I want to check the internal gains with the different ref levels but trying to get that plotted in one image for now.?

Ed, I don¡¯t think that¡¯s right. The band does switch in at 18.6 GHz but the 8566 compensated for the loss in power and what you see is a step up in the noise floor, not a step down in the power level.
Wojciech, you probably need to perform adjustments related to band 4 in the tests and adjustments manual.
Note that the 8340/1 has a similar architecture to the 8566 and so it¡¯s possible those units are exhibiting the issue you believe is coming from the 8566. But, as you point out, it¡¯s less likely two units have the same fault than 1.
