Re: HP-1421A Q109 Voltages

The 1821A is very similar for the reset lamp circuit, the voltages are negative on the base, picture below is from the repair of my 1821A, the lamp had failed in that one.

Copy/paste didn't work.
HP 1821 has almost the same circuit.

That's what I kept thinking - especially since everything else that's connected to the base is negative.? Could that be a typo?

Yes, there is a process to have "downloadable programs" sent to the 8595E.? I do need to get the program though!

Does anyone have a readable schematic for the A101 board in a 1421A? I have a paper manual on order but until that arrives, I would appreciate finding out the voltages shown for Q109 (Page 5-16, Figure 5-9). From what I can tell, the online scan appears to show:

Re: HP 427A no DC offset adj. pot

Is it possible that the unit is late enough that its using a 0 offset opamp and wouldn't need that pot? I did look at the online schematic and do see what your talking about. But maybe they were not needed later on.?
Hard to believe.

Hi

The HP 8595A have a card reader at front, and need hardware option 119 when used with NF personality DLP.

Michael,?

You need the personality module reader that attaches to the rear of the 95A. The card is read by the?
reader and uses the noise marker mode and the noise measurement method is the GAIN method of?
noise figure techniques. Today, sometimes referred to as the cold source method. The SW optimizes
the SA to obtain a low noise capability, takes into account the NEBW, etc... You most likely will need?
an LNA in front of your analyzer particularly if you are trying to do low noise measurements. Required?
to avoid the 2nd stage NF contribution from the SA.?

I'm pretty certain the analyser will use the Y factor method (not the gain method) so an external noise source (HP 346B?) and an external preamp is needed (HP 87405A would be good here as it can be powered from the front panel of the analyser).

Hopefully, the analyser has the 28V drive port at the rear and this is probably the internal hardware that is required for this option. If so it might be possible to clone an existing SW card and plug it in and it would all work. I'm not sure if it can be loaded via GPIB.

Re: Looking for replacement ECL logic chips etc, for HP 8160A Pulse generator.

After having a bit of a search online etc, I have found that Keysight list the 1820-2149 as being replaced by 5088-7082 (both are obsolete), so that opens up the search parameters a bit maybe.

HP 427A no DC offset adj. pot

Hello,
I recently acquired a Govt. Surplus (Air Force) HP 427A, SN/ 947-A19375. ?I was going to adjust the DC offset according to section 5-30 of the manual but the A2 board doesn't have the A2R7 pot for this. ?It also doesn't have the A2R17 pot depicted on the schematic as well. ?The latest manual version I have found online is 00427-90008 and it reflects the presence of both of those pots. ?Can anyone advise me on the DC offset procedure for this unit or perhaps direct me to the most recent manual? ?Thank you,

Leon...
