It's used inside the HP 540B transfer oscillator as the high frequency mixer, must have been sold separately too.

Yes! But... what would be better reading? Something concrete about the noise concerning the "Cheap and simple OXCOs upgrades on ebay" that generated all the racket. Is there noise? Is there a racket? Re: Another 3GHz 53132-68003 Chanel 3 option design for the 53131A and 53132A
So, a little testing was done. I think I need to do some alterations to get this thing in spec.
I had a play with a simple trimpot from Vcc to the invert input, but it severely reduced the sensitivity. The best I could get was about 765MHz to 2430MHz. I think there's some magic in the ... I'll have to figure it out (Unless anyone has some insights?)
I also used the tracking generator on my Siglent VNA that is good to 3.2GHz as a function generator to test the input sensitivity without the trimpot or any input bias. (Set VNA span to 0 and the center frequency becomes your frequency output setting). I hooked it all up with my E4418B power meter and 8481A power sensor to see what dBm level the counter display became unstable and made this graph:
I'm thinking that I might need to add in a third stage of amplification to boost the signal to the prescaler at the higher frequencies (I think the prescaler gets a bit deaf up there)?
Unfortunately the highest bandwidth scope I have is a TDS794D at 2GHz, so it's a little hard to scope the input to the prescaler directly to see what's going on. Any ideas on how to see the signal level there?

Re: Wanted: manual ( .pdf Or paper ) for the HP-3964A-Instrumentation reel to reel tape recorder
I am pretty sure that I sold my 3964A/3968A manuals to Dave at Artek many years ago. With little to no demand for them, he probably did not scan them. You might check with them to see if they still have them. They were complete operating, service manuals with service notes. Don Bitters

Hi!
I would like to get this from you as I am trying to get an 8510C display going and I have a friend that needs an board as well. I am in Kentucky.
Thanks!

Free for the price of shipping before they went to a junkyard.

Boards working condition is unknown. CRT Display is OK, nice and bright.
Also the keyboard part of the front panel (no CRT bezel and soft buttons
cover) if somebody needs this. No tape drive. The thing powered up, gave an
ERROR display (something about interrupts, maybe because there was no tape
drive and powered standalone -- don't have any other 8510 parts) so power
supply (main and postregulators) is in working condition, CPU booted up and
running, Graphic Processor worked.
?
Working power supply as well and rear panel, complete without the fan.
?
Top/bottom/side covers in decent state (no scratches/dings/whatever).
?
It will all go to a junkyard next Friday if no takers.
?
Will take PayPal for shipping. Shipping will be FedEx Ground.
?
Doesn't have to be "take it all or nothing", can be only some parts.

Offer to scan HP large format manuals - up to 36inch
Hi all
I have a large format scanner that can scan up to 36inch wide format, and almost unlimited length.
There are lots of old and really bad schematics out there that are scanned in really bad quality and divided in to several smaller pages.
I will offer to scan these schematics in high quality and in complete scans, not divided into smaller pages.
I am not scanning the complete manual, the normal lettersize pages you have to scan yourself (if not already scanned), but only the schematics since I have the special equipment for that.
You have to send the manual to me here in Denmark - and pay the return cost also - and I will do it for free as a help for all to get the old badly scanned schematics replaced once and for all!
It is a must, that the manual afterwards will be available for free for everybody.
?
Kind regards, Peter Andersen, peel.dk
