hello Jeremy, well ok for your answer I will still look on my side if I find the manual for the installation of option 009-010 for the hp 8593e and yes well ok for the installation of the mechanics which is quite strenuous but you have to take the time.

The ¡°1906-¡° prefix would indicate it is a varactor or thyristor the R712 reference designator indicates it is a resistive device. HP, Agilent, Keysight prefixes 1902-, 1906- are generally diode devices, rather than transistors.

Re: HP 3457A FET Transistors
Nice! I recently got one of those, quite by accident, along with the rest of the components for that interferometer system. It's really neat stuff.

Re: Video Information for the Wiki
Hi Zentronics IMO, I am against it; but, if you can do it, I think anyone should be able to do it, as well.? Some of the reason for that is... well... YouTubers make money... from video views, and the rest of us posting here don't.? I think if the list is going to be monitized; then that should benefit the list.? One could argue that the members proposal does benefit the list; but, that's an argument I haven't seen. Maybe the List should have it. (Maybe the Mods will decide.) Please let me know what you all think. Best regards and wishes. Roy

J3xx fet's should be (used to be ?) pretty cheap, I suggest getting quite a few more than required in case you need to do some matching or parameter binning for e.g. Idss , Vgs etc...
PS Craig, if you could disable your email signature for this list that would be nice; it comes with a bunch of attached images which is annoying and takes longer to load...

I have only just joined this group earlier today and am still trying to work out how to navigate my way around
I have a HP 3457A and it keeps giving me an error 256. I have replaced the filter caps and followed the steps in as shown in a series of YouTube videos and I can get the diagnostic 8 to pass most of the time, however it then fails. On the YouTube series, the guy replaced 6 of the FETS as shown in the attached document. I am trying to find modern equivalents of these to order them. I have contacted Keysight and Element 14 to no avail. Can someone suggest a part number and or brand of FET I can use which should do the job as per the manufacturers original specs ?

Re: No IF latch when input 1G signal into HP 5350B
Hi Samba,
Do you have the service manual? Have you read the trouble shooting section? Please be careful around the sampler, as it is a sensitive device.
I would follow the trouble shooting, and first check the DC voltages for voltage within the required range, and also check for ripple.
Next would be to check the LO signal. Notice this is around 14dBm, so use attenuators. What test equipment do you have? (spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope with 500MHz band with, frequency counter, power meter and so on.)
Regards, Askild

Video Information for the Wiki
I have some YouTube videos on the way for some vintage HP equipment. I have a bunch made for Tek gear but the plan was never to be exclusive. I am curious if this is content that the group would like to add to the wiki pages? If so how would I be able to add links to the units under the correct model numbers. I currently have content for a modern frequency counter 51313A as well as some videos on the way for a 200CD, HP410B,and HP 412C. With more always on the way.

Sure. But while I own a 3457A, I've never had to repair it, so I can't help you with your FET issue.
It was frustrating, actually. I bought it on eBay as "broken", wouldn't power on, and got it very cheap. (like $75) The power switch was mechanically jammed. I was looking forward to a fun troubleshooting session!
