Hi just a line hear hopefully without stealing the thread when repairing a HP 180 scope plug in one diode was reverse polarity to its marking compared to others in the same plug in Reversing the diode fixed the problem My question is how did this change polarity as I assume it was correct at manufacture of the plug in? otherwise the plugin should have failed end of line testing Regards Paul ?

And, can you comment on if / how the whisker tip geometry might affect characteristics..? I'm wondering if a 'blunt' tip at the contact point might alter performance at high frequencies...

Re: Mixing 'n' matching S parameter test sets
The 8748A is, I believe, the S parameter test set that will work the the 8754a.
You _should_ be able to get these cheap since they won't do diddly with more modern VNAs. But try convincing an ebay seller of that!
Likewise, there are 2 normalizers that can work the the 8754a and they also _should_ be cheap since all this stuff is incredibly obsolete.
As a side note, there's an article in the HP Journal on hooking up an 8754A to a computer and various bits to automate measurements and get a bit closer to a modern VNA.
Full discloser: I have an 8754a with all the trimmings. Other than the miniVNA that's available, it's about the cheapest route to a full scale VNA for occasional use. The grease pencil bit still gives me a chuckle.
If I did a lot of RF work I'd get something newer.

Looking for power supply schematic of Agilent 83751A
Hello ? Does anyone know where I can find the power supply schematic of Agilent 83751A or B (Synthesized Sweeper, 2 - 20 GHz) ?? I downloaded the service guide, it only contains block diagram (very helpful), but no detailed schematic. The power supply stopped working, I need to repair it.
? Symptom:? Could not power on. Rear panel 2 LEDs all off. Internal standby LED is on. Short A3W2 Pin 16 to ground, no response. Thanks Lin

Hi Andy ¨C ? There are several on eBay if no-one has a parts unit. Here is one pretty reasonable . There is another for the same price for about half the shipping, but not fully tested. Then you can keep your old one for spares or take the part you need from an eBay one. Regards ¨C Mike ? Mike B. Feher, N4FS 89 Arnold Blvd. Howell NJ 07731 848-245-9115 ?
