Re: 3582A troubleshooting
Mike Harrison did an interesting article on the i-prober. I was especially impressed by the hack he develops in the last couple of minutes on the video, which gives a crude spatial image of the current flows. That would entirely be worth developing further.

I'm not sure I'm quite ready to say that there are no hardware problem, but it could be a software issue.
One of the thing you could try is to boot on the recovery partition and recover your OS. Prior to do this, you should make a copy of your HDD on a secondary drive. I don't mean a copy paste of windows, I really mean a duplicate drive. I did it using UBCD, it's quite easy and is definitely worth it (be careful not to wipe the scope HDD)! Of course test your duplicate. Then just boot on the recovery and try to run the cal in recovery, it might work. If not, recover the primary partition. If this doesn't work, reinstall the scope software, I doubt that it will work, but it's simple enough that it's worth trying.
You only have the Probe board that fail at the moment, I'm a bit surprised, I would have expected something closer to the ADC. I think you should follow the troubleshooting procedure in the service manual to find the issue.? It could very well be a unconnected cable. When I received mine, I had a similar issue (I had traces on all channels) and the issue was a connector plugged at the wrong place.?
I would be curious on seeing what the wave looks on the defective channel. Is it that the ADC is saturated, is it that the display overlay shoots nothing or something else. What happens when you try to measure something on that waveform? On other waveform?

OK George thank you for the information. Thank Joel ? ? ? Hi Joel
Sorry you misunderstood what I was saying, I don;t have a spare supply for sale. What I meant was I have one that I can give you information from.
Good luck with the repair, it should be a simple one, the problem comes with the smaller SMD control board, but this looks like it is working OK. Standard fault with these supplies is that they will not turn on at all.

Although the attached circuit diagram is for a different SA PSU you should be able to use it for yours. The 37pin D connector pins are on the right of the first drawing.
If you have any problems I do have a 8593 PSU that I can check for you.

HP 89410A / 89441A internal 3 1/2 floppy replacement
Hi All,?
I have an 89410A VSA that needs a replacement 3.5 inch floppy drive.?
It seems like the correct drive is a very specific skew that has a pin out that differs significantly from a 'regular' PC drive (e.g. the drive is powered over the 34 pin ribbon cable with +5V expected on pins 7,9 and 11) The part number for the original drive is? EPSON SMD 340-006-02
Does anyone have experience with replacement of drives in these VSAs??
I have found a drive that has pins 7, 9 and 11 on a separate trace that can be configured either as ground (regular PC pin out) or can be routed to the +5V rail using soldered jumpers. This drive is a Sony MPF920-E/131
Does anyone have a schematic for this Sony drive that would allow me to determine the function of the various soldered jumpers on the board?
The controller used by the Sony drive is a CXA8061Q
Does anyone have a datasheet for this controller that shows pin function?
Thanks in advance
Peter

Hp8566B DLP installation from windows PC
I have uploaded a set of five? *.bat files to install the default set of DLPs in HP8566B/8567b/8568B spectrum analysers from a windows PC. /g/HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment/files/8000%20to%209999/8566%20B,67%20A,68%20B%20Spectrum%20Analyzers.%20DLPs%28Down%20Loadable%20Programs%29%20and%20Tools
To use them you must have the John Miles's, KE5FX GPIB toolkit installed and either a NI or Prologix GPIB adapter. The toolkit is available at ? http://www.ke5fx.com/gpib/readme.htm
To run the files to install the DLPs, simply copy the files into the folder containing the toolkit (Default location:? C:\Program Files (x86)\KE5FX\GPIB ). To upload the GPIB programs simply doubleclick on each of the *.bat files in turn. These call John's utility? "talk.exe" to do the magic and upload the HPIB/GPIB code.
The files in the folder are
README.txt harm_8566B_8568B.bat intro_8566B_8568B.bat main_menu_8566B_8568B.bat peaks_8566B_8568B.bat water_8566B_8568B.bat
There is also another bat file already in the toolkit? IMD_8566B_8568B.bat, which can also be used .
Note: These files worked on my 8566B (serial # 2332A) with the exception of the waterfall display. It comes back with an error message: "INVALID STORE DEST: W_LOOP? SRQ 140". W_LOOP seems to be defined in the code but I do not have experience of HPIB/GPIB programming to debug. Any helpful suggestions gratefully received! 73s Brian Flynn GM8BJF 11 Sept 2020

Re: A1H neon bulb for on/off press switch
when I started out at HP san diego division in 1970, I designed a led replacement for the neon chopper eliminating a high voltage power transformer winding.... if the use here is literally a power indicator lamp then just adequate striking voltage margin over the expected useful lifetime is the issue. we see neon pilot lamps flickering beyond that. As far as I know they are replacements for any HP photo chopper neon;s, they can also be used in the Marconi differential voltmeter (2606?).

It is just over a year ago when I last had to find these neon's so thing may have changed by now.
I believe the original neon's were NE-2U which is a CML A3C, I have attached the CML data sheet which is a little confusing if you don't place the two pages side by side and line up the tables.
The trick was a high intensity neon lamp that was "dark enhanced", normal neon lamps have difficulty striking in the dark, a minute amount of a radio active isotope was added to make them strike in the dark. The problem is this isotope has a half life of just over ten years so they all eventually die of old age, new stock is recommended.
Good luck

Re: HP 8593e alimentation A8
Hi Joel
I have circuit diagram for the secondary DC voltage board, will send it later today.
This power supply consists of three PCB's in a U formation, one is the High Voltage input board (lethal voltages present), the second is the low voltage DC output board (your fault will be on this board or you may have an external overload), the third is a surface mount component control board for which no schematic has yet been found.
