HP-3421A Service Manual is required.

 

There is one HP-3421A that does not turn on (+15, -15, + 5V is dead).

The measured value of C708 where oscillation is occurring inside the capacitor is 495(0.205).

C708(25V, 470uF) was replaced.

And when you turn on the power, +16.9V is measured in TP700, +7V in RT700, and +6.6V on top, regardless of S502(Switch).

However, +15V, -15V, and +5V cannot be measured.

I suspect the U702(LM393N, Dual Differential Comparator), but it is not easy to analyze because there is no circuit diagram.

If the ¡°Wakeup Logic¡± on the left side of the figure can be related to S502, the problem is complicated, so I need a schematic.

Please tell me where to buy the service manual schematic(pdf, jpg).?

Well... I haven't seen (doesn't mean they don't exist)... but, I haven't seen the ones stamped out of sheet steel lately, and hardly the ones stamped out of brass ever.
But Pamona makes what they call "Stackable Shorting Double Banana Plug" with the banana plugs centered at 0.75 inch... that fit my HP 6111A, et. al. power supplies. Jameco, and others sell them. See.

to stop the stand by battery from draining

?

I know it exists as I had it a few months ago / last year but unable to find in my HP manuals

I suspect that most at Keysight have little or no idea of the legacy that came before them as Hewlett Packard and Agilent. They most likely couldn't care less.

Well written application notes are some of the best educational tools available; whether they are instrument specific or more general.

I prize the General Radio, Boonton, Wiltron and Hewlett Packard app notes. They have been a source of a great deal of my practical education.

Good distance resolution on TDR usually requires wide bandwidth, so you might upset some folks with significant out of channel power on a live antenna.

What do I want to be able to do?? I also want to be able to look at/sweep transmission lines, and typically with an antenna on the other end that's in a high RF environment.? Hence the need for the RF amp and a passel of attenuators to safely override what's coming back down the antennas from other stuffs - more of a "High Power" FDR system rather than TDR.? I have a Tek 1503C that I have used, but that requires disconnecting the transmission line at the top end, but that doesn't always show me what I'm looking for.?

Does my description make any sense to you?

requires the contents of each site for a listing off the application notes
it has
Then perhaps we can fill in the missing ones to each site
So I assume we can use your list to help fill in any missing ones for the
benefit of all
Yes, go right ahead; and use anything else you'll find in that directory if you go up a level or two. I've made the server's file structure accessible exactly so that people can dig around as I have so. much. stuff I'll spend the rest of my days putting html in front of it all.

Parts of the Agilent Technologies VXI business was sold to VXI Technologies, just prior to the Agilent - Keysight split sometime? after 2003, so there may be info on their site about the Agilent VXI items.? I believe Keysight kept everything that pertained to RF, Microwave, Power measurement, DMM, O-scope technologies.? I think that most of the switching matrix items went with VXI Technologies.

I got a good deal on a 6623A triple system PSU last year, and finally added binding posts to it (it only sports rear screw terminals as-is):
/g/HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment/album?id=245498

Not the greatest model to use as a bench supply, but one makes do...

All that remains is to make links to join the output & sense posts. I've ordered some sheet brass & aluminum. Does anyone know a source for pre-made ones?

They've never been restricted to being about how to use instruments.
Many are about how to perform measurements, and other
non-instrument-specific stuff. For example, the "bible" of that
mysterious "guard" terminal on high-end voltmeters: AN123, "Floating

App notes also come from component manufacturers...usually (but not
always!) they are about applications for a specific component, but many
many of them are much more general. There's practically an EE degree's
worth of information distilled in the ones published by Linear
Technology over the years, for example.

?? I don't mean to take this away from Dave but its an example to me of
how once perfectly obvious meanings have been lost with time.
Uhh...this is a very current term.

It's fine English. They usually (but don't always) say "Application
Note" at the top, but the whole engineering world calls them "app notes"

Yes, agreed 100%. These days, web sites are controlled by suits, and
suits are not to be trusted with anything of value.

I've being trying to hunt down VXI stuff and it comes up on the Google,
but points to web/ftp hosts that no longer exist. :^(
I use VXI a lot, and I have tons of VXI documentation in PDF format
for lots of different things. Email me if you're looking for something
specific, or if you want to sync up documentation collections in some way.
