Re: Pozi-Drive bits

A wide variety of Pozidrive Screwdrivers and bits are readily available from
McMaster-Carr Supply (www.mcmaster.com <> ).

They stock well-made, but affordable tools - mostly American made. The
prices are reasonable, and if you happen to live where they have a
warehouse, you can will-call the items.

Re: HP-8657A question

Jose V. Gavila

Hi all,

I found it :-)!

It was a matter of the 60dB attenuator control, not the unit itself. As I commented on last message, there was some weird heating on one IC, which was just a quad opamp. It drived one of the quad transistors IC which switch the attenuator settings... and one of them is shorted!

So it kept the attenuator in a fixed setting which was OK just for some combinations. Now, having removed from the circuit that faulty section of the quad transistor IC (buy cutting the corresponding IC pins), the unit works exactly in the opossite way it did before, so it is clear that, when replaced, the unit will work fine (well, at least it should ;-)!)

I will know for sure once I get the replacement IC, which has been ordered from the Far East, so it will take its time to arrive.

Best regards and thanks for your help!

I wonder if they had mouse wheels back then? I really prefer top posting since I usually have read the previous post and still can remember what the topic was. If not, then a quick whip of the wheel gets to the older information. That plus OE opens at the top of the message anyway and I would bet MS has the vast majority of email clients world wide.

Generally, standards follow way behind what is really happening. First,
somebody figures out something that works, then the the standards guys
codify it and enshrine it in boilerplate.

Re: Web Traffic Solution

Hello All,
On another forum I am on, the traffic became too much for a lot of members.
What the moderator did, was create a "lounge" site to discuss OT stuff.
For?example call it: ?"hp_agilent_equip_lounge"??
When you have an??OT response you simply would say " Im taking this
over to the lounge site " and the discussion resumes over there.
It's been working?well for a few?years now.

Best New Year

Not all lists are web based and some of us prefer to get all of our lists
in one place (email). Even if they all were available via a web based
interface, and I were to try to read all my mailing lists (~50)via web
interface, I'd be bringing up ~30 websites.
Additionally, there are a large number of tools which let you filter, file,
ignore, select, fold, spindle and mutilate email to get it to a manageable
state when you need to keep track of large volumes.
OTOH, some folks like web/forum/newsgroup/netnews based discussions. It's a
matter of preference and style.

Christian,

I am receiving your PM's but mine to you are being bounced.

I uploaded the files to Didier's site, www.ko4bb.com.

It will likely take him a few days to move the files to a 'downloadable'
location.

I'll try sending to you via another email address I have and see if that
works.

In order to use a HP 8757A SNA as a display, the noise figure meter 8970B
requests version 2800 at least to enable special functions 47.x as described
in Product Note 8970B/S-4.
My datecode is only 2725 yelding E36 error. Bad luck!
To display firmware release enter 99.9 SP on the 8970B.
If someone could provide me with related ROM dump, would be great!

Almost two years ago I posted the above message, but till now did not get
suitable answer. Maybe someone could read a recent ROM and post it?
Please note K04BB's site only holds 2705 version of the firmware ROM, see:
)_ROM_Images_and_Drivers/HP_8970B

So I'm looking for 2800 release or later.

Thanks for your help,
Christian

And I have seen people flame others for doing just that. However I think top posting is faster and works better for mobile devices.

Hi Victor and group, no that s what I intend to do, my message was not meant to say anything about the overall validity of the quality, it is just too much to process in the inbox, you have to dig too hard to get the nuggets you need. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
