Re: HP 6114A - looking for R8A, 15.82K 0.1% 1ppm resistor

Radu, that's a great deal then for one-off. I haven't looked for such things in a long time. Ed

Re: HP 6114A - looking for R8A, 15.82K 0.1% 1ppm resistor

Note that you can land close enough with some reasonable like 1% 50 ppm common resistors, at least to get it running and make sure that's the only problem before investing in a fancy resistor. You wouldn't want to discover another problem causing it to burn out.

Re: HP 6114A - looking for R8A, 15.82K 0.1% 1ppm resistor

They'll also be happy to make it?15.82K, as they're laser-trimming the part to exact value.?

If you already have a good assortment of similar resistors, or can find enough in standard values, you can make a composite one close enough. 1 ppm/C is a quite high performance (= expensive) resistor. Good luck.

Re: HP 6114A - looking for R8A, 15.82K 0.1% 1ppm resistor

Dave,
Depending on how valuable the repair is for you (and hence how much you're willing to invest?in this part), you could consider ordering the resistor from TCC (Texas Components Corporation - ). You?can get your exact value in likely more precision and better TC (), but it isn't what I'd call a cheap?part. They will make this for you at your exact spec in one single count, and these resistors are just about as good as they?get (outside the Fluke's own fabrication world).?

I also looked up 08920-68127 (from the CLIP) and no match.

Re: HP8753E / ES

I have an HP8753E which I was repairing and because I couldn't find the front window piece, I purchased an HP8753ES parts unit.? ?Currently the E unit (6 GHz) works but the ES unit is just a partial parts unit.
?
As far as I can tell, the main difference between these units are:
?
1)? The LCD and LCD holder.? Seperate post on this, but the E has a Sharp LQ9D340 (7.5 mm thick) and the 8753ES uses the Sharp LQ084V1DG41? (12 mm thick).? The latter display is easier to fix (backlight issues), brighter, and higher contrast (in addition to being cheaper).? The LCD holders (plastic part on the back) are also different to accomidate the different thickness of display.
2)? The keypad layouts, including extra keys on the 8753ES.
?
All of this begs the question, can I easily make the E unit into an ES?? Is it merely a matter of swapping the front pannel assembly and downloading 8753ES SW into an E unit to make the switch?? If not, do I need to swap the mother boards (which would be a bit of a pain), or is there a specific chip that I could swap instead?? Looking for insight into the easiest way to make this transition.

Re: N8973A Firmware Update issue

Dear All,?
?
today I was successfull in updating the NFA. Obviously the Windows 11 created disks are not readable for the N8973A.
?
Beside of Antoine's hint to use a XP based computer (which worked) I was also succesfull to use the "Winimage" software by setting the format to DOS 5.0 / NT / XP and inserting the downloaded files.?
?
Maybe this can be a help for others having update needs on those instruments.?
?
Special thanks to Antoine and Vladan for the offered support.?

Group,

Sounds like the fan in my 8341B needs replacement. After some searching it appears there is a replacement listed on Mouser, that has been used, an Orion fan. Part number 670-OA172SAP112TB.

Would anybody know if this is the best or closest replacement available? ??The fan currently in there is a Fulmer fan, part no. 00 , didn’t find anything searching for this manufacture or P/N.

Also, there was no filter installed, is there a preferred material to make a new filter?

I am going to clean some dust and dirt near the back with a soft brush and a little air, but don’t plan on taking anything apart to clean.

Thanks for help,

Since I missed the notification of your last post, just a quick update to clarify.
I restored the board, just using the original resistors.
No change in function of the SA was observed though.?
I did the measurements with the restored board, the results are in post Re: Troubleshooting a 8591e with opt 130
Guess it seems the error is not in the Log amplifier board, would you agree?

Are you sure about the part numbers? Keysight say that is a cable
Could be 08920-61820? or 08921-61828

Comparison between your board, my board and part list version E

Part list E version

For R93 ??5.62k 1%?

My board (8595E)

For R101 4.22k 1%

?

On schematic version E, R93 and R101 are 5.62K

On schematic version A, R93 and R101 are 4.64K

But I think that these values are pre-selected.

-------

?

Part list E version

For R24 1.21k 1%?

For R25 1.21k 1%

For R26 1.21k 1%

Resetting to its original state is the obvious thing to do.

After your series of tests, you will be able to better understand if there is a problem.

There is some discussion on this on other forums, I am considering the lower RPM, fan.? Not pleased about the tight fit on the height, but it appears to be the only one available.

I guess these motors/ bearings are sealed?? I haven’t removed the fan yet.
