Looking for power supply schematic of Agilent 83751A

Hello
? Does anyone know where I can find the power supply schematic of Agilent 83751A or B (Synthesized Sweeper, 2 - 20 GHz) ?? I downloaded the service guide, it only contains block diagram (very helpful), but no detailed schematic. The power supply stopped working, I need to repair it.

? Symptom:? Could not power on. Rear panel 2 LEDs all off. Internal standby LED is on. Short A3W2 Pin 16 to ground, no response.
Thanks
Lin

I'm sorry to have to tell you that you are probably stuck on this part. It is the "MRC" (Multi-Register Counter) chip, which is custom. Several people have looked for these over the years to resurrect 5315/5316 counters, and to my knowledge there has not been a solution other than to find a donor unit.

HP 6033A DOA

Hi Group,

My HP 6033A arrived yesterday (from epay... "guaranteed to work"... HA!) and looks AOK but when powered up,
ALL LEDs light up (normal) and stay that way! (not normal)

Have not opened her up yet but looks like a uP related issue.

Anyone ever work on these? I hope it's not a ROM/GAL issue!

Might be a clue here as I do not "hear" any relay clicks...

What is the part? Is it an op amp etc....
The Manufactures code is the HP CAGE number, so no help
Maybe there is a substitute.

Buy ESA Spectrum Analyzer Noise Source Driver?

Hi all,

I'm interested to buy a E4401-60123 A7A13 Noise Source Driver board for my E4407B.
If you have a board for sale or know where to find one, please let me know. I've googled around without any luck and searched eBay as well.

Best regards
Marcus

Hi Andy ¨C

?

There are several on eBay if no-one has a parts unit. Here is one pretty reasonable .

There is another for the same price for about half the shipping, but not fully tested. Then you can keep your old one for spares or take the part you need from an eBay one. Regards ¨C Mike

Re: HP detector

Tom,

Thanks for the confirmation..!

And, can you comment on if / how the whisker tip geometry might affect characteristics..? I'm wondering if a 'blunt' tip at the contact point might alter performance at high frequencies...

Re: HP 8970B calibration / account for loss during calibration

Thank you for your help. You're right! It works as you described. I tested it with various ampifiers with known values. The HP8970B is really a great instrumenr, much more convenient than today's spectrum analyter solutions.

Re: HP 8595E Restore and Tracking Generator Questions

Chad,

Have not tried to repair the fried relay, as I was able to buy a lot of 3 (lucky) some years back. Also, your particular model may already have the series resistor or other mod added later. You will have to look at the board ( ummm... A10..?) to see what is actually there. And, you might as well invest in the CLIP from Artek if you want to do component level work. I have discovered that the .pdf scans you get from Agilent on the old gear are pretty bad, and no text search capability...

Re: HP-8753E Which PROM Holds S/N & OPT Info?

Hi Marcus:?

Ok I am reading 08753-90374, which did not refer back to Chapter 3 (If it did, I missed it). I now see what I need to back up, to include CAL Data in Chapter 3. I will get on this today. The EEPROM which the data I need resides is a Xicor X28HC64J-70, as described by a previous poster. I have a programmer which will read XC28C64, which I think is compatible. The question I have is, will this chip work in a PLCC to DIP32 converter? Dimensions appear the same but this EEPROM has legs to solder. I may have to buy another adapter.

Time to put these 3.5" Floppies from the 1990's to good use!

Rich? ??

Rich,

you are not reading chapter 14 thorough enough, see page 14-3 bullet 4 which refers to chapter 3. See Table 3-1.
I'm looking in 08753-90484 Service Guide Agilent Technologies 8753ET/ES Network Analyzers.

And, I agree with your plan that you need to copy the EEPROM since option code entry does not work for you. But doing a EEPROM backup to floppy is an extra insurance. Learn from my mistakes, see /g/HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment/topic/49147578

Mixing 'n' matching S parameter test sets

Hi all,

I'd like to check out this old VNA I have by hooking it up to a different S parameter test set than it was intended for. I'm just wondering if I could cause any damage by so doing. I don't see any reason why it should, but you can't be too careful with this kind of thing! The test set is an 85046A and the VNA is a 8754A. The plugs and sockets all line up with each other, so that's something - but far from conclusive!
So.... safe to try?

Re: HP-8753E Which PROM Holds S/N & OPT Info?

Hi Marcus:

I am looking at chapter 14 on the removal of the A9 Board. This information is not present. The reason I was considering removing the EEPROM is the A9 Board I have to replace the existing the faulty one comes from a 8753D with OPT11. The unit I wish to transfer to has OPT6. I started down this path because I was unable to load License Keys to the EERPOM. I had wanted to activate Time Domain and Harmonic options, and I think there is a fault on my existing A9 board CPU which is holding some pins High. It was for this reason, I thought I should read the EEPROM, configure the .bin file, and then reinstall it on the new A9 Board.

Hi again,

I had a look in the 8753D and 8753ES/ET service manuals what they say what needs to be done for a A9 CPU board replacement. Both says you need to re-enter the serial number and options. I do not see why 8753E should be different.

Re: HP-8753E Which PROM Holds S/N & OPT Info?

Hi all,
I can only answer for the 8753D with the older CPU board and firmware v5 and v6, not the newer ones with firmware v7 used on the 8753E series or 8753D with option 000 upgrades.
The EEPROM data backup to floppy does not contain the serial number and option bytes. Maybe that has changed on the newer CPU board, maybe not.

So perform the EEPROM floppy backup first and see if you find the serial number in that file.

Best regards
Marcus

Re: HP8568B does not start.

Does your 8568B have the internal 10MHz OCXO running? If not check the internal/external ref switch for the correct setting. If set to internal, check for 10 MHz at about -10 dBm at the rear 10 MHz port. If missing, put 10MHz at greater than -10 dBm into the ext ref port.
The 8568 will not run - giving some of the symptoms you listed. The internal system RF chain and a chunk of the digital electronics will not function without the 10 MHz. This is unlike the 8566 which runs off the internal 100MHz (locked to the 10 MHz).

Re: AM modulated sine wave - Q about oscilloscope triggering

Ah, of course! So obvious now you say that. Working now.

Many thanks

Tony

Re: AM modulated sine wave - Q about oscilloscope triggering

Yes, you are using internal triggering and the picture jumps around because the spectrum you have is
three tones at 449, 450 and 451 kHz respectively. Move to external triggering instead.

G?ran

Re: AM modulated sine wave - Q about oscilloscope triggering

I would use the 1kHz for external triggering the scope as well as the modulation.

My 2 cents,

Leo
