Thanks Kuba... but a search of the Sphere site shows no stock on
those two IC types. And being new here Deane Kidd ? Since the chips you mention are singledevices (IIRC single D and single JK FFs), there are various modernreplacements. The replacements aren't pin-compatible, and usually come in SOpackage, but it should be trivial enough to wire them in. |

You can likely replace those with equivalent-function stocked ECL chips (in the $5 price range). Since the chips you mention are single devices (IIRC single D and single JK FFs), there are various modern replacements. The replacements aren't pin-compatible, and usually come in SO package, but it should be trivial enough to wire them in. Cheers, Kuba |

Help on HP8601A sweep generator
Hi group;
What a great resource this forum is. I recently aquired a HP8601A sweep generator on E-bay in very nice cosmetic condition. In testing out it's function it seems to have a failure in the hi-range divider module such that the unit works on the low range (100khz-11mhz) but not on the hi range (1-110mhz). I've looked at the Bama manual and it points to motorola ECL divider chips (HP 1820-0101 = MC1034P & HP 1820-0102 = MC1013P). They give a troubleshooting procedure to isolate and test the individual chips that I will attempt this weekend. However looking ahead is there anyone that can identify a supplier for these vintage ECL chips in small quanities (like one of each) at reasonable prices? I thank anyone that can help me out. I'm very impressed with the design and construction of this vintage HP sweeper and I would really like to get it functional 100%. Also I'm curious on the years of production of this unit, the chips had a date code mark of 1971. Thanks Larry |

I am re-posting this message, as I have had no response. With the apparent differences in models later than those pre-fixed with 1902A and 1941A my present manual is next to useless and I cannot continue the fault finding procedure. Does anyone out there have manual which would cover an HP 8410B with serial prefix 2017A or later. I have checked the usual sources, but everyone seems to have the same manual as I have. From: "Chris van Lint" <chrisvanlint@...> To: <hp_agilent_equipment@...> Sent: Thursday, November 23, 2006 8:10 PM Subject: 8410B I have an HP 8410B Network Analyzer, which does not appear to work as it should. When putting the unit through the troubleshooting stages as suggested in the manual, I find that the amplitute values quoted in figure 8-51, page 8-51 (circuit board A4) are considerably higher compared to what I get. With an input of 30mV at 20.278Mhz at test point 4, I get 225mV at TP3 (not >0.3V) at TP2 I have 800mV (not >3V) and at the output TP1 I have 400mV (not >2V) I discovered that R15, which according to the circuit diagram should be 100 ohm is in fact 454 ohm, which could explain the differences in gain. I borrowed an A4 board from a friend and discovered that his unit too used 454 ohm and performed identically to mine (i.e. only 400mV out at TP1). Further investigation shows that the model # for my 8410 (and that of my friend) is prefixed 2017A. However the manual I have covers prefixes 1902A and 1941A and 1450A and 1741A with changes mentioned in the "manual changes". It would appear that some significant changes were made in later models making the information I have on hand almost useless. |

If this is in LIF format (some HP standard) then suggest search web, if you
are really stuck I have a old backup of the dos based LIF write/read program but its my old archive in the basement lab which is now for storage, ( (ie not easy to get to)) so suggest check on up to date stuff first... btw: Use a head cleaner many times for that old floppy drive, imho its prob likely that is contributing to the problems, dust has its way of getting almost anywhere and especially so over a long period of time, cheers mike At 12:47 AM 28/11/06, you wrote: This logic analyser works fine but I have only one system disk.Regards Mike * GMC/VK/VL Commodore & Calais FuseRail that wont warp or melt ! * High grade VL/Skyline milspec ignition driver electronics now in development * Twin tyres for most sedans, trikes and motorcycle sidecars |
Re: Manual needed for HP 415 series SWR Indicator
Hi Dave,

I've looked through my files and have only found the 7-page operations 'guide' from a university web page, and the calibration procedure and parts manuals from LOGSA. However, I do have a friend, a guy I trained in metrology about 30 years ago, who currently is a supervisor in the metrology lab at what used to be Boeing's Commercial Aircraft Division here in Wichita. He promised me some time ago that he would search through the lab's archives for any manuals I might want, so I've added the 415D and E to my list. He's a notorious procrastinator so no guaranty on the time frame, but we'll have a go anyway. I have three or four 415E's I need to convert to battery power for antenna range use, so a manual would be nice to have here as well. As an aside, about 10 years ago I sold almost 6000 ops and service manuals to ManualsPlus as I was moving and had no place to store them. I wish now I would have rented a storage building! 73 de Steve, WB0DBS ---- dave powis <g4hup@...> wrote: Does anyone have, or know the whereabouts of, a copy of the operation and service manuals for the HP 415 SWR Indicators please? HP1652B Logic Analyser - system disk, how to create?
Andreas Troschka
This logic analyser works fine but I have only one system disk.
I'm worried due to the fact that sometimes the floppy isn't red correctly and the analyser fails to start and crashes. I suppose the floppy disk (a 720KBytes 3"1/2) is about to loose its magnetic data while time's passing. So I'm in the need to prepare a second and backup floppies before it is too late. Since it isn't a standard DOS floppy, anybody knows how to? Andreas Troschka |

HP 182T Display Performance Verification.
an_lutos
Before I start to work on the faulty SA plug-in, I am trying to
determine if my 182T display is functioning correctly. With the plug-in out I am feeding an external input with the -10V square wave from the calibration output. I am able to get 10 division markers as described in the manual. The only problem these markers are not horizontally aligned. I replaced square wave with the 0 to -10V sine wave and now I am getting 10 division horizontal trace which is perfectly horizontal and strait for the first 6 division and then is having a couple bumps about 1 division high. Another thing I noticed, when I vary the intensity the trace moves slightly up and down. Otherwise the intensity works correctly. It would nice to have another unit to compare. I tested the CRT with the SENCORE CR70 analyzer and it appears to have an excellent emission, not a surprise because the trace is very bright and sharp. The power supply is good too. Have I got a faulty CRT or I should look for an electronic fault? I am not very experience in this area. Any help is much appreciated. Andrew |
HP 70700A digitizer USER manual
Hello,
Looking for pdf file USER manual 70700A digitiser HP part nr unknown it is NOT 70700-90001 initialisation and configuration it is NOT 70700-90021 programming I looked at HP site and Teknet they both mention user manual but actually point to the 70700-90001 which is not a user manual. HP 3582A ??
I just got one and it seems to work but much is more advanced and
complex than the RF spectrum analyzers I'm used to. I've downloaded the ops manual from the Agilent site but it assumes that I know more than I do. I'm looking for more basic info, app notes or tutorial or would like to telephone someone who has used them in the past. I want to study the harmonics of plucked guitar strings and see how the various manufacutrers compare. Thanks Hank WD5JFR |
