Re: HP4195A schematics.

Hi Luis,
There is a Service Manual for the 4195A located on the Agilent website
(www.agilent.com) Type "4195A" in the Search box.

HP4195A schematics.

Hi,

Have here a 4195A and I'm looking for service
manual with schematics diagrams
Have all the other documentation, calibration etc but no
diagrams. Any Help ?

It powers up, all ps voltages are ok, but no display nor
any other activity, so first candidate is CPU boards etc.
Any advice from someone that knows this equipment well ?

Many Thanks,

Luis c.

Or a RC network from the calibrator to ch 1 input should do the same
thing.

HP1744A Storage Scope B-Scan Filter

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the exact nature of the subject accessory? I
assume that it was used to slow down the rise/fall time of the
calibration signal during a B-scan storage-mesh image removal. If
I am correct, I suppose that a sine or triangular wave from a
function generator would do the job just as well.

Thanks - Joe (G3LLV)

Hi Dear
in most cases Recalibration of the equipment can identify , where the problem is .
if the spare boards are available , replace the suspected board & recheck.
if not , go to trouble shooting guide, & follow the steps , & diagonize where the problem comes , then it will be easier to track .
Hope to succed well

Sounds like there could be a problem in the pretune DAC section, if it's
locking near the bottom of the YTO's coverage range (which is reached only
on the 2-22 GHz band, not the 0-2.5 GHz band). After verifying that all
power-supply voltages are OK on A17-A19, I'd check the A20 and A21
assemblies. Start with ESR checks on the electrolytic capacitors -- that
was all it took to fix one 8566B I saw with a very similar problem.

Then, if all looks OK, I would attempt to recalibrate the YTO driver (A19,
A20). If the trouble is in that area, it'll become obvious as you go
through the calibration steps.

Hi Group
can anybody point me in the right direction,
the screen is showing YTO UNLOCK, however on
further examination I find
1 it wont lock at all on the 0-2.5 band
2 it will lock on the 2-22 Ghz band if the
CF is tuned down towards the bottom of the
lowest harmonic band and the span is reduced,
however if it is reduced too much it loses lock again
also if the jumper is inserted to ignore phase lock errors
and a signal is observed it tunes in jumps.
a test with another analyser during phaselock (Tek 492) shows
that the residual fm is in fact removed.
YIG output is about 15-17 dbm
a quick check on one of the M/N frequencies from the table
in the manual showed the correct values.I have not yet
measured any of the various loop power levels

Jonathan

Re: cad software

You can get a free download of Eagle 4.1 PCB software from
the Cadsoft
website ().
And this place takes files directly in
Eagle format - so no hassle in producing a whole set of Gerber files. Their
$33 option (160x100mm double sided, through hole, silk screen and solder
resist) corresponds to twice the maximum size of the free Eagle software,
but you can panelise however you wish - send them the Eagle files and a
cutting plan. I recently did this with eight smaller boards and they come
back looking a real treat.

Thanks Jose,
It's always interesting to visit your webpage to see what's new in
Spain. You must have either a very big house, or a very understanding
wife to be able to keep so much equipment!

Re: cad software

You can get a free download of Eagle 4.1 PCB software from the Cadsoft
website (). It does everything that
their "for sale" version does, except you are limited to creating
smaller, 2-layer PCBs that fit on a single schematic sheet. You have
to buy the full product versions to do bigger, multilayer boards.
Still, the functionality of the demo is more than sufficient to get a
lot of jobs done. The program outputs proper Gerber and NC Drill
files, so you are not locked into dealing with a specific PCB fab
house, like some of the "freeware" layout programs out there.

P.S. If you prefer reading their German webpage, go to

Re: Manuals.

Hey, I thought that I was the only troll here!

As Edward said, go to eBay and search on the seller: ridge_equipment
to find that listing of older HP manuals. I have also bought many
things from them and always had a good experience.

Thanks Jose, I have two of those boat anchors, and need all the help I can
get. I have never found a source or a proper repair for the gears. Epoxy does
not want to adhere to the surface properly.
Nice clear photographs.
Thanks again,
Eddy
