Same experience. Shipped an 83712 from NY to CA. Had them pack it. Glad I insured it. Face plate smashed in.?
Pictures of it on the counter @ the UPS store will make the claim easier.?

Sort of:
"For shipping, we work with a local UPS franchise. They will pickup
your items the week following the sale and contact you directly to
discuss shipping options and costs, and then you will pay them
directly."
My experience is that UPS store packing is very expensive, but also
completely ineffective at protecting the contents :(
Highly disrecommended.
