My experience with ENA is limited , I know the PNA has K factor as a regular measurement , I have to look at the ENA but I cant see why they would not offer it ,? as far as the ECAL concerns I know how easily damaged they are ESD is a main concern with them which is why I want a new one

As I recall, there was a K-factor macro on some models of ENA, but I don’t recall the details of which. Probably worth a little research on the Keysight pages.

You are certainly justified in being concerned about a used ECal, not only for the connector condition, but also about whether the internals were damaged or the cal def’s memory was scrambled by some dim-bulb. I sometimes see them on eBay being sold as refurbed by Keysight. More expensive but can be trusted.

Manual SOLT is a pain on a multiport VNA which is why I want to use ECAL , agilent now has some ECAL kits that cover 9GHz and cost about $3500 which considering that a good 85033E cost at least $2000 and then you take a chance because you don’t know the condition of the slotless collets !

I don’t need 4 port in fact 3 ports would suffice to measure diplexers and splitters but I want a analyzer that can measure and display stability factor and the ENA can do this as far as I remember

Yes, you can cal a 4-port E5071C with a 2-port Ecal, as well as the PNA line. The VNA will recognize what model number you have and knows how many ports and what connectors it was built with. The cal steps are a bit more numerous than with a 4-port Ecal, but it is still much better than doing a manual SOLT cal, even with the shortcuts the VNA knows how to do.

I am eyeballing a E5071C VNA , the unit is a 4 port which is one of the reasons for me to consider it .
i have used 4 port PNA-X analyzers in the past with N44XX 4 Port ecal units and the E5071 Supports a variety of ECAL units but what i am wondering about is whether you need a 4 port ECAL to do a multiport calibration or if you can do this with a 2 port ecal as well ???
