Phone Conference Wednesday, 19 February at 1:00 PM PST
Adventurers:
We have a planned telephone conference tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 February 2020 at 1:00 PM PST (I think this is 10:00 AM Thursday for Peter and 3:00 PM Wednesday for MAC). Joe and I will be together in Hillsboro, Oregon and will call MAC and Peter. There was a question about adding an additional person. Ken advises that there is a decent couch in the Operator's Lounge for someone to sleep on.? That would make 8 of us. There is no difference in the cost of the Lodge if we add the eighth person (non-ham). I expect the lounge space would be occupied by one of the men. Equipment Carried In We discussed if and how much equipment we would carry with us to PEI. ? ?- JOE: KX2 with antennae, FT-60 and Arrow Satellite Antenna; end-feds ? ?-? MAC: KX2 and various antennae ? ?-? EV: KX3, FT-60. Maybe something to supplement VHF/UHF Travel Arrangements ? ?-? EV/Barbara: Will fly to Boston, MA via Alaska Air on September 2nd. Rent a medium SUV. Travel in?and Maine until September 15.? Arrive on ? ? ? Tuesday, September 15 and stay near PEI DX Lodge unless entry can be arranged that night.? Leave on September 28 to return to Boston. ? ?-? JOE/Nancy: ? ?-? PETER: ? ?-? MAC/Lynn: Food Near DX LODGE We have had good experience setting up a meal calendar so each of the team takes on preparation duties in rotation. We do not include the women in the schedule, but don't turn away interested help. We have had good experience sharing a meal together each day, usually breakfast and lunch is on each person. Restaurants and groceries are convenient to the lodge. There are numerous restaurants within ten miles of the DX Lodge. They come in various flavors: American; Ethiopian; Greek; Italian; Japanese; Mediterranean; Peruvian; Steak House; Thai. The International Shell Fish Festival takes place in Charlottetown, about an hour and a quarter away. The McKinnon Homestead Scottish Ceilidh and Show is in Richmond, about 35 minutes away. The North Cape Drive has a couple of places to eat...and view the northern end of PEI. At Tignish, at the northern tip, there is?Wind & Reef Seafood Restaurant.?Tignish was founded in the late 1790s by nine???families, with further immigrants (mostly?) arriving in the 19th century and settling mostly in the nearby smaller locality of Anglo–Tignish (meaning "English Tignish"). Many of Tignish residents today are either of Acadian or Irish heritage. There is a Foodland Market 1/6 mile?and the O'Leary Farmers Coop in O'Leary 6 miles away in O'Leary. The Anne of Green Gables Musical is still active while we are there. Three of us, and partners, will participate. We need to decide whether we'll go with individual or group QSL Cards. 73 for now.
