I've traced my Halfpenny/Hapenny/Halpin line back to County Louth with the family of Richard Halfpenny (1816-1896) and Anna Markey Ryder (1819-1896). To my knowledge their eldest son, Patrick (1844-1901) was the only to stay in the in the British Isles. He lived and died in County Durham, where the family had moved for a time before emigrating to America. His parents and 9 other (known) siblings ended up in several states; primarily Maryland and Illinois. The other children were John, Mary Ann, Alice, James, Ann, Bernard, Thomas, Lawrence and Ellen. Is anyone else familiar with this family?
