Greetings everyone and welcome to the notification group for the *new* club dedicated to all breed herding and based in Central NY! First off thank you for your interest in this club! Benefits to having this club (and membership!) include a consistent and predictable AKC herding trial (or more) in the Central New York area. We already have had tremendous support and growth of herding locally, but lack the formality to hold titling events. So here we go! Currently we are organizing and collecting the information needed to provide data to the AKC to become an AKC performance club. We need members, so if you have someone interested in joining the CNY herding club please have them email me (Eva Fowler) at info@... and I can share the info on the club and future meetings. Speaking of meetings: We held our first meeting on January 11th at the Spinning Wheel in North Syracuse. We covered a lot, here is just a quick review! We voted in temporary officers: President: Eva Fowler Vice President: Deb Eldredge Secretary: Jackie Young Treasurer: Sally Erbe Director:Becky Tehon Director: Karen Goodwin Director: Karen Cummings Here are the next action items for the creation of this club: -Shortly we need to have a mission statement, which we will refer to in order to keep events and goals appropriate to the club -We need to create a membership form, membership fee and identify all members and their history (the more the better) for pure bred dog events and more specifically herding -We need to schedule events such as meetings and an annual meeting -The Club needs to be named -We have lots of "office stuff" to do such as bank account and insurance -Fundraising to hold the first event(s) -By Laws for the club need to be developed Jackie will be sending out the meeting minutes for this organizational meeting shortly. For specifics on any of the above topics, please refer to those. Thanks to all who were able to come out to the banquet today; I am so sorry for those who could not. The banquet was postponed from January so we had a time change and an abbreviated schedule, but we still had great fun, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend Kristen's Kitchen! Great food, great staff, and she caters too! Deb Eldredge provided the trivia this year and we all had loads of laughs and learned a few things as well, she even had prizes for high and low scores! I have attached a copy of the banquet booklet for those who were unable to attend the event. It was originally designed by Jackie Young and is modified a bit each year as things change. Hello, I checked our library today and found four books absent: one was borrowed on 10/10/24 and hopefully will find its way back soon; the remaining three are unaccounted for. I actually remembered it was on Thursday, but lost track of the days of the week last week (My Dad has been in the hospital and I have lost all sense of days/time). Good Morning Group, April 6th at 3:00 will be the new Awards Banquet Date. If anyone else is able to attend now that has conflicts with the original date please let me know by the end of next week.
