Re: HABalloon Project
Hi, my friend, my mother called me "Roberto"? :)? :) (you can call me Bob, that's fine). Callsign characters are numbered starting with 0. So, my callsign IZ7VHF has
call_telemetry[0] = I
call_telemetry[1] = Z
call_telemetry[2] = 7
call_telemetry[3] = V
call_telemetry[4] = H
call_telemetry[5] = F You can choose for telemetry
call_telemetry[0] = 0 (zero) or Q
call_telemetry[2] =0 (zero) to 9 so you have 20 combinations, called "channels" in our hobby. 00 is channel 0 01 is channel 1 ..... 09 is channel 9 Q0 is channel 11 Q1 is channel 12 ...... Q9 is channel 20 Hope this help. P.S.: you can choose, of course, other combinations, but that's not legal. Roberto, southern Italy. Re: HABalloon Project
Hallo gentleman.
The "telemetry channel" is the 1st and 3rd charachter we use in the "telemetry spot". As you know, the lelemetry spot is similar to a normal spot (callsign, locator, dBm) but all of these info are "fake". So, a "fake" callsign may be any callsign the coding firmware would create but, since we have the need to find it in the "spot sea" between all other billions of spots, we need to search only some callsign. So, firmware chooses 1st and 3rd characher you set up as "channel". If you choose Q and 0, all your telemetry spots will be like Qx0yzk, where only x, y, z and k may change, but Q and 0 are fixed. So, you can be sure that is your spot. Of course, we hope no more than one ham radio amateur launcher uses that channel, otherwise may be an interference in decoding telemetry spots. Now we can choose only callsign beginning with 0 (zero) and Q, because there are no ham radio callsign assigned by authorities around the world that begins with these two charachters. Hope this helps. 73 de IZ7VHF, Roberto, southern Italy. |

Hi, ?I'm playing with SW but a llitle confused what to set for the telemetry channel? XX is now I can use Q and 0 only right? I permanently got message for fuse E?0xfe!=0x06 when programming with USBASP any helps are welcome On Mon, Nov 18, 2019 at 7:35 PM Mikael Dagman <mikael_dagman@...> wrote: I prefer the upper edge of wspr bandpass, I have my trackes set at 14097185, the thought is that its less traffic toward the edges (upper/lower) of the bandpass and our low power signals have a better chance to get through there, when I used jt9 I set just outside wspr bandpass at around 14097280, that way I could decode them both with one radio. same scenario goes with 30m |
Re: Sources for balloons
Fastdrying glue always work on all balloontypes, but, the selfsealing ones, like the Qualatex and Grabo you can ONLY use glue, they are not possibe to heatseal due to the "double" nozzle the selfseal introduce,
on the Clear Chinese and homemade balloon I heatseal the inlet with an iron set on wool setting (Two dots) with said mousepad under and a piece of bakingpaper between the iron and balloonfilm.? By the way, the grabo balloon tracker that I listen into using a Russian websdr is up over 11700m today :) /Mikael |

No, not realy, there is some if you google but I had not much use of them when I made mine but its realy easy, basically just get a XXL mouse pad, largest you can find, a marker pen?and a pieze of string like this?
? (no pin ofc) for the balloon inlet I used 2 round plates on a cardboard piece to make a templet and cut it out, see pic.then just a long ruler or some long cardboard pice and "connect" the two rounded halfs marks with the penThats basicly it, set the iron on two dots 140-150° wool seting and start ironing away along the mark, use some pressure and just not the weight of the iron.I use a XXL?mouse?pad, have that under the film when you heatseal it, it will make the seams realy nice and even, also best to mension, I have some baking paper between the film and iron.![]()
