Message HHC01448S Config file

开云体育

Hi

?

When I use the path “d:/mvs” in my Hercules config file definitions, it works fine.

But when I use “d:/mvs_vxry” it crashes as shown in the log below

I was lost and finally I tried to change the path and fortunately it worked.

The message is weird “20:09:27 HHC01448S Config file[1] D:/MVS_VxRy/Parms/config.cnf: missing device number or device type”

Because all devices are there.

?

Hi, you need to attach the config file.? You have a line that is typed incorrectly, Hercules sees it and is complaining that it can't continue until you fix it.

The problem is with the "_" in the devices path?

The problem is NOT due to an underscore in the devices path. It is something else.

Again, the problem was not because there was an underscore in the path.

The problem was because you specified a non-existent path.

Windows accepts underscores in path names just fine. It always has.

You just misspelled the path name!

Jo?o,

I am taking a guess here, but I would look at the directory path for HTTP ROOT that has a space in it:

HTTP ROOT ? ? D:/Zos_V2R5/"Hercules 4.6"/html ? ?# HTTP root directory

As an experiment, can you rename your directory from D:/Zos_V2R5/"Hercules 4.6"/html to D:/Zos_V2R5/Hercules_4.6/html and see whether the behavior changes.? I am speculating that the config file parsing logic might not be consuming the full path information.? Handling file paths with embedded spaces can foil legacy parsing logic.

Just my guess,

Jim

There is absolutely no need to change spaces to underscores, unless you really want to.

The proper syntax for specifying values that contain spaces is to simply enclose the entire value within double quotes. Thus:

HTTP ROOT D:/Zos_V2R5/"Hercules 4.6"/html

would be wrong, whereas:

HTTP ROOT "D:/Zos_V2R5/Hercules 4.6/html"

would be correct.

Or maybe enclose the entire path in quotes:
"D:/Zos_V2R5/Hercules 4.6/html"

I'll try it

Solved using:

?

  1. HTTP ROOT “ D:/Zos VxRy/Hercules 4.6/html”
  2. 2100 3390 "D:/Zos VxRy/devices/mvscat.dev3" cu=3990-6

?

Thank you all for for the tips

Windows requires the path to be enclosed in quotes IF the path name has embedded blanks.?

Jim
