You can transfer ASCII files (PC) both ways but using all the terminal x3279 progs I know that is all you can do but there again why would you when you can just open up another Window in the micro.

Hi Jim,

Sort of.? If you get creative!? But not actually directly, that I know of.

One way is to use OMA tape.? You list the file names in a control file, and then make MVS think it is reading a tape containing the files.? Zipped PC files are valid files, and they can be unzipped on MVS, using an automated process.

Another way is to pull them in via the card reader.? If the records are longer than 80 bytes, then they can be converted to hex records of 80 bytes wide and reconstructed on MVS.

The above 2 methods were used to create the MVS/380 distribution.? There should also be working examples of the above in the MVS/380 distribution.? For more information on the above, please join us at:?/g/hercules-os380/topics.

The easiest way of all is to use the File Transfer option on 3270, BTW, you have to be in tso to transfer the files one by one.? Under Files menu option you will find File Transfer option.? The top line is for the PC side and the second box is for MVS side.? we use ASCII for text tranfer and Binary for Load modules and zip files. ??
