When I was at the University of Texas at Arlington working on my engineering degree, we had the first VAX 11/780 in the state of Texas... it was so new it hadnt?been fully integrated into the University curriculum as of yet. My first class where I had to use it was ?Pascal programming.

I've got a file manager plugin for opening ISOs that had no problem with turnkey-mvs-2.iso once extracted (outside the file manager) from the tar.gz. Asking it to first extract turnkey-mvs-2.tar.gz (inside the file manager) then browse the ISO was a bridge too far. Another quick download, again on the order of an eye blink. Good ISP there. Thanks for the file, a quick examination shows the following. Date & time stamps are for what is the predominating d/t stamp. CBT's ftp://cbttape.org/pub/cdimages/MVS_Turnkey_Volker_V3.zip is 563.6 MB dated 2001-06-05 12:22 PM; it is a zip file. It contains a small RECYCLER directory not present in your turnkey-mvs-2.tar.gz. Your turnkey-mvs-2.tar.gz is 564.7 MB dated 2001-06-05 3:22 PM; it's a tar.gz with an ISO containing both Joliet and ISO-9660 directories. Your turnkey-mvs-3.tar.gz is 488.3 MB dated 2001-07-31 8:00 PM; it's a tar.gz with an ISO containing both Joliet and ISO-9660 directories. It may be necessary to rummage thru the turnkey-mvs archives in order to determine what releases these are, assuming they even were labeled as distinct releases. There was a fair amount of shooting from the hip, not much minded by mostly seasoned systems programmers trying to make MVS38j go, yet still trying to target for a system usable by newbies. It looks like (free) GIO has a 1GB storage limit, so just two of these TK3 images is probably too much. As a rough approximation, it looks like bsp38j.zip is still out on Volker's site BSP38J - The Archive I also noticed ScottC and Doug Wegscheid uploaded some TK3 stuff to the H390-MVS Files section as well. Ancient history now,? but decided to play with MVS in retirement. Much the same as best I remember, but I have spent all my years in Unix (and Windows Admin) and it's all a distant and pleasant memory learning Pascal, Cobol and Fortran.? Once sure thing,? the
computer itself back then was in a nice little glass room where I was not allowed......? ?
So being the owner and SysProg is a daunting task and I am finding a steep learning curve but one keeping my mind engaged, I am one that must figure it out - eventually, cussing along the way.
