¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAndrew, The address you listed is correct.? However the OP stated '"wally<AT>highrock<DOT>com", no longer works.'? That is why I said to drop the .com and use .trading instead. Regards, Gary On 4/27/22 12:50, Andrew Fabbro wrote:

Re: Looking to find the "ISPF" software that was written by Wally Mclaughlin.
Hi Gary,
Please be respectful of Wally's wishes that he be the one to distribute his own software.? He obviously would have posted it somewhere if he did not care about the distribution aspects of his software, that he wrote and offers to all of us without charge. Thank you, ScottC |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI looked at the email addy a little closer, try "...<DOT>trading" instead of "<DOT>com". On 4/27/22 10:29, gdblodgett wrote:

Re: Mitrol empty database availability in DBDUMP format
What the heck is Mitrol? Never heard of it. Intercom?has a generic database interface module that can be used with some programming to interface to DBMSs it doesn't know about. There's no built-in Mitrol interface, but I bet the general one could be made to fit. On Tue, Apr 26, 2022 at 1:03 PM Jacek Kowalczyk <vtoccata@...> wrote: Last days of our illustrious group's existence on Yahoo sparked some interest and brief discussion on Mitrol database. Now that we're graced with V9 INTERCOMM it seems like a natural pairing, given DC-related parts of Mitrol might pose more of a challenge adapting to MVS 3.8j. Which brings a question, has there been any success in recovering empty datatabase (referred to by GETEMPTY procedure) in DBDUMP format? No material readily available on website (there are some broken links too) seems to contain it. --

Re: Mount Scratch
I agree, if you don't have any of the tapes for HSM, what can you possibly hope to use it for.? You can't restore anything because you do';t have the tapes, you could use it to back things up (and restore them)< but then you would have to generate some virtual tapes of your own and also delete (HDEL) all of the data that HSM currently thinks it owns.
If you obtained your copy of z/OS with HSM nefariously, then shame on you and you got what you paid for.? If you obtained it legally, then go back and get the HSM tapes from the same place.? Running HSM with no tapes is worse then worthless, because it will continue to yell at you about missing stuff.? OTOH, if you have datasets that have been archived that you will later need to have, then you are SOL without those tapes. HSM is a great tool, but it's like having a pet, you still have to feed and take care of it. Brian |
